I want to pick up (I think) a Ruger SR40c for CC. Sold my 9 the other day and from doing some research I think this is the pistol I want within my price range. Any thoughts?

I haven't shot the sr40c but have shot the sr9c. I thought it was a nice pistol. Ruger makes nice products, especially for their list prices.

    What did you just sell?

I'm a real big fan of rugers. I think they make a very quality product and one of the biggest bangs for your buck you can get.

That said, my brother has a SR40C as his carry. It's a great shooter and you will not be upset buying it. The price is awesome on it. I would buy one myself except I'm looking for a sub compact so I'm going with the XD40SC.

    Ruger P95

The best price I have found on the 40 is $426.

Ruger makes good stuff. Love thier revolvers, always hated the looks of their pistols, but some of these newer models are nice.

I got the Smith & Wesson M&P .40 compact for just under $500. I love it!

I have shot a SR9C and a P345 and both were nice guns for the $$$. Also Rick.....if your are looking for a $400ish compact US made 9mm check out the new Smith M&P Shield....I've been reading reviews on these since they came out a couple months ago and everything has been really good so far on them. I may end up with one soon.

I had the SR9 didn't like it due to the magazine was too stiff to load tried 2 other mags it was a no go. Switch to the Springfield XD Subcompact... flawlessly every round.

Changed the sights to the Trigicon Night Sights improved my accuracy by to near perfection. I love the Ruger LCR Revolver keep one in an ankle holster as a backup and the XD in a Crossbreed.

You can also give the Glock a try, Ruger is just as good. But the gun that's flying off the shelf is the M&P due to Avengers Movie.

The shield only comes in a 9mm though doesn't it? That Smith and Wesson is on my short list as well but I really think I'm going to pull the handle on the Ruger in the next day or so unless the Shield comes in a 40.

Yes, the shield comes in .40. Basically a super compact version of the M&P.

Just talked to the gun store and they have not received any M&P 40 compacts yet and don't know when they will but they will be selling it for $419 and the Ruger SR40C for $426 which they have. Now I just have to make up my mind which will suit me. Going to stop by there tomorrow.

I'm a personal fan of Sig/Sauer but the only problem with them is they are high maintenence. If I buy another gun for CC it will be a Glock. The agency I work for has Sigs, and everytime u shoot it u have to clean it. Glocks u can drop in the mud and it'll still shoot.
