Cattle can be territorial and I have seen them chase deer off . I think a lot depends on the cattle and how territorial they are though .

As long as you aren't hunting g with cows right under you I wouldn't worry about it. Old place I hunted had lots of cattle & I never had a problem except dodging cow pies on my walk in/out. (Can be tricky in the dark)!

    X2!

Thursday I was on my way to the treestand and cows had just walked up the ridge I hunt on. I figured they had spooked anything in the area so I was walking sloppily and not paying much attention. Once I reached the ridge I looked down it just in time to see a nice buck standing in front of my treestand run away. Cows had been there minutes before, so I guess it just depends on what the deer are used to.

I agree with the above posts. There's a spot that we drive by when going to our lease that has deer in it almost every morning. The other day there were about 100 cows out there and I assumed we wouldn't see the deer, but they were out there within 70 yards of the cows.

The only time I've seen them spook deer is when the cattle get spooked themselves and start to run around.

Cows yes and horses too. Every time a deer comes out in the field, the horses would walk up to the fence and start making a lot of horse noises.

was wondering this same thing. hunted with a buddy on a WMA down here in florida last weekend. he was set up by a palmedo field we had seen some does on the edge of. he heard a bunch of rustling (those palmedos make a ton of noise) and figured it might be a hog. got his shotgun up, and lo and behold, out walks a cow. the WMA butts up against a farm, guess she got tired of that side of the fence lol. he waved his arms and spooked her off. then when we were driving out 45 minutes later she was down the road probably 3 miles away. started towards the car, blew my horn and she bolted. definitely seemed territorial to me. or maybe just ticked off.

Said this in numerous posts this fall already but deer and cows where I hunt get along great. In fact, my dad and I were moving cows into a new pasture last evening and kicked up a big buck 30 yards from the cows. As we were moving, 4 more deer walked through the herd as they were moving to the new pasture. Got them in the new pasture and went back for the salt feeder and there was another buck walking through the cows in the new pasture. Over half of my stands are in our pasture and see deer just about every time.

I see just the opposite. Way less deer activity on land that has cattle on it. Not saying they aren't there. That's just my observation!

I've hunted property where the cattle pasture goes into the woods, never saw any issues between them and the deer. Also live across from an overgrown pasture with horses in it. The deer get close to the horses and they don't seem to mind them at all. Granted they are older horses though. I would def. see horses harassing deer before cattle though.

Oil and water boys. Sure they can be in the same bowl together but they sure as hell don't mix together.

Whenever I hunt around cattle I find the most deer activity as far from the cattle as I can place myself.
