Anyone watch this one yet? I really enjoyed this episdoe about Bartman. I remember watching it happen on 2003, I was watching that game. The one line I loved was at the end of the show. "Can Chicago forgive Steve Bartman? It’s: Can Steve Bartman forgive Chicago?" One of the reporters made a statement how Bartman was the only one who acted with honor and class that night. Bartman has been offered millions to do commercials ,appearance and other gigs. He has turned them all down. I did enjoy this snippet "Then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich is shown declaring Bartman “will never get a pardon from this governor!” Priceless."
I watched it, and my feelings on the show were similar to your's. Its sports people, c'mon. I feel sorry for that dude.
I watched it as well. Good coverage on all the issues. I agree with Vito, often times people take things way to serious and this was one. Maybe I missed it, but I was hoping for a "where is he now" update on Bartman. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They said he still lived in Chicago but wouldn't ellaborate.......?? Seriously I feel bad for the guy. Why did they feel they needed to bring this back upis my question??
It was a major story for one of the oldest, most storied, teams in sports. I felt the story helped Bartman. I think more people will feel sympathetic toward him, now. I don't see the harm in bringing it back up. It wasn't that long ago and I don't think anyone had forgot it happened.
Yes, Bartman looks to be the person with character in that situaton. Bartman wants to be left alone, just think the guy is a die hard cubs fan and he may never get to go to a game again. Just shows the truth about sports, 10% ability and 90% mental.
Totally forgot to set the dvr for it lastnight and I was at work. Was really looking forward to watching it. I remember it very well. I am a huge Sox fan but I was in a Cubs bar with a ton of friends who are all big Cubs fans. I felt bad for him at the time but also understood everyones dissapointment. Never understood how people could get so upset over something that everyone would have done if in the same situation.
I watched it happen live and feel no need to replay that day over again. I do not blame Bartman, just the whole series was such an utter disappointment that I dont care to relive it.
I don't understand a few things with the Bartman incident. * Would have been the 2nd out in the 8th? Whats to say IF Alou makes the catch they automatically get the 3rd out before collapsing like they did. * They gave up EIGHT runs in the inning. Bartman didn't botch a routine ground ball or throw belt high cupcakes to give up 8 runs. * Does Alou even make the catch? Looks kind of promising, but not a sure thing. * That was game 6. Yes they were up 3 games to 2, but how did Bartman play a role in game 7? If major league players were that mentally tortured over the second out in the 8th inning in game 6 then they have some issues to deal with. They're professionals. I see it as an excuse for an implosion IMO. You either define the moment or the moment defines you.
I didn't see it, but the morning show I listen to was ALL over it the next day. Makes me really want to catch the show.
Gonzalez's error after the Bartman incident was a FAR bigger play in that inning. I always wondered why that was ignored. People act like Bartman knocked the ball out of his glove, too. That would have ended the inning, and no one would remember who Bartman was. Its a lot easier to blame a fan, a normal guy...and not the super human athletes. Stay classy, Chicago.
have it sitting here on my desk but havent watched it all yet... if i were a baseball fan guess i'd keep my hands to myself sitting on the foulline seats (moreso i'd be afraid of falling over!). big debate here at work... one kid called me an idiot (cubs fan) like water on a duck's @$$ to me...
