The prosecutors failed to convince a jury of her peers that she is a sick, sick woman. Only other option....
It may be the opinion of the people that she is guilty. But the society says innocent until proven guilty. Apparently they could not prove her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Although crap (in this case), it is the way our legal system works.
If your already mentally ill then it's one thing and you shouldn't be with society, but when everything has been normal in her life meaning no prior evidence of mental illness untill all this just to save her ass, "come on", thats ludacris! She needs to pay the consequences, I hate when they drag these things out and they get off the hook. More money to feed their breaths of air and waste of space.
I was going to post yesterday with a prediction that she would get off but decided against it. I'm really not that surprised. I took a great interest in this trial and probably watched this case more than the average person did. With that being said.... I think she's guilty as hell. Is there proof? Not really....only circumstantial evidence. And I know it's easy for everyone to say "guilty" but I can honestly say that I wouldn't know what my stance would have been if a juror. Once I read/heard the instructions the judge gave the jury....I told my co-worker that the jury couldn't render anything but a NOT GUILTY verdict. Like it or not...thats our system. She'll get hers one way or the other.
Finch, I really wish they could find a crime that would fit this.....She WAITED 31 days to report her child missing! I don't even know what to say. I hope she is struck by a bus.
Believe me...I wish the same thing. They're saying that she might even get to walk out the courtroom on Thursday, a free woman. The defense is going to argue that she's already pulled the time that she would have gotten for the lying to police charges. AND she'll probably write a book and make a lot of money all because she killed her little girl, "allegedly." Sickening!!
I got home at 3 and started drinking all the half empty bottles of wine from Sunday's party here. I figure by the time I get through the next three, the fridge will be empty and I might forget about the travesty that is the Anthony Trial. That or I will wake up sad and hung over
Not guilty by the ponderence of evidence. All they needed was one juror, did anyone who followed the trial think that wasn't going to happen?. That's the justice system in America, like it or not and for the record I think she is guilty or at least had a part in it. It's not over there will be more to come on this case.
Guilty or not, the prosecution brought forward a case without physical evidence. Now that she was found not guilty, they cannot try her again unless new evidence is found. The prosecution is the ones who messed this up royally and heads should roll because of it.
While I personally feel that she is undoubtedly responsible for the death of her child, whether directly or indirectly, they prosecution failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. While many say it's the fault of the court system, I have to disagree. It is the responsiblity of the prosecution to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that she murdered her child. While there's no questioning the death of the child, and her roll in covering it up, there's no hard evidence that she willfully and intentionally murdered her. I know the entire case is both absurd and disgusting, but under the law in this country we are all innocent until proven guilty. Unfortunately the prosecution failed to prove their case and now she will walk. It's a shame, but not unexpected. I, for one, will be interested in see what happens to her in the future. I highly doubt we'll ever get the full truth on the matter from her, as she is clearly a habitual liar with some serious mental issues. I hope that at some point the parents will come clean on what they really know. Although doing that may implicate them and subject them to prosecution as well so who knows if that will happen. In conclusion, I think this entire case is a product of our screwed up culture/society more than it is an example of a poor justice system.
Justin very well thought out and written. The one thing we are all missing is that little girl is gone and nothing they do will bring her back.
Got tired of the people bashing our judicial system yesterday. Our system worked perfectly in this case. The state of Florida is to blame here not our country. Had I been a juror there is no way that I could have convicted her either. Do I believe she did it???? Absolutely....but the burden of proof lies on the state and they did a piss poor job. What's bad is they had nothing to go off of. The LEO's that handled the case did a terrible job.
