I recently completed assembling some new aluminum alloy arrows and I used a trick from my reloading experience to make life easier.

Come on, I know you are still out there!
You used to hide in the shadows, embarrassed by your buddies’ ribbing that you are still living in the sixties because you don’t use the latest and greatest carbon composite shafts advertised by Sam and Betsy, until they saw your groups on the target. You still don’t mention the fact in public because alloy shafts, like the embarrassment of psoriasis, are just too much to explain to perfect strangers.

Anyway, I used a case chamfer and deburr tool to dress the point end of the shaft after using the G-5 squaring tool. The inserts fit so nicely and afterward the exterior of the shaft was perfectly flush with the outer diameter of the insert.

A final squaring of the insert after installation produced perfect point alignment on the shaft spinner.
