I have been looking for a new wrist release for a long time. I have always loved the Tru Ball short and sweet 2 that I have been using for several years but I always wanted just a little better trigger. I think in the price range of the short and sweet, it would be very hard to beat what it has to offer. Well, my son needed a better release at the beginning of deer season because the touchy trigger on his little goose was causing some trigger punch so I let him use my ss2, he never gave it back. :( I was forced to use my Carter Fits me too hand held which I absolutely love but never really liked a hand held for hunting, especially one that expensive.

I decided I would get serious about my search for a new wrist release and Carter was at the top of my list due to their awesome triggers. After some discussion on the boards I decided I would get the RX1 because it has the ITS(interchangeable tension system) like the fits me too has. I always liked that system.

I picked it up today and the first thing I noticed was the weight. No plastic, here. All aluminum and steel parts. I could tell I was holding a quality product. I also was syrprised at the size. Much larger than I thought it would be. But not too big that it wasn't comfortable. Then I hooked the release on a piece of loop material and the trigger was crisp with no movement but was way too light for my liking. The first thing I did was remove the small eclip( which is a little on the weak side and you would not want to remove it very many times or you may see an issue there. But it is not meant to change springs everyday so I don't foresee an issue.) I installed the heaviest spring in the supplied package of 3 different spring weights. The trigger instantly felt better and I was much more confident in beeing able to lay on the trigger and utilize proper back tension or just squeeze the shot off slowly without fear of it firing prematurely.

It will return to the locked position easily with just a pull of the trigger. A small magnet pulls it right into place. It is also very easy to load on a loop with the more than adequate hook opening.

If you are searching for a high end wrist release with a great trigger, the RX1 should be in your short list.

I have very small hands but this may give you an idea.
