I wanted to practice on the off season on form and not punching the triger and on my regular wrist strap relase it was easy to do. I bought my carter on friday and man my form is great and if you use it correctly your groups are tighter then ever. I know have to shoot at sperate targets or ill "robinhood" my arrows!lol..i was wondering if anyone else has one and how do like it?
I keep thinking of going to a hand held release but wasn't sure of the learning curve or change in set up.
I went to a hand release a couple of years ago, I'll never go back to a wrist strap. It feels so much more natural to me. I shoot a Carter Big Kid (now renamed the Target 4). Probably gonna put my daughter in a Fits Me sometime soon. She gave up on her wrist release a couple months back, and is shooting my spare release from my hunting pack. I use it for hunting, spots and 3D.
You will have to try and find a pro shop that carries them and go shoot them for yourself. Otherwise look at the styles that you think you like and search for reviews on google. I had already shoot some thumb style releases and kind of knew what I wanted so I ended up getting the carter- simple 1 based on reviews and personnel preference. I kind of eliminated some based on their looks. I hunt from September through December with my bow so I didn't want one that had holes to put your finger into because I didn't want it to be tight when I would be wearing heavier gloves. You might have to call around to shops to see which ones might carry carter releases I could not find a where to buy area on their website. Also just from research many people also like the Stanislawski releases. It may be something to look at also. Good Luck
I had to change my peep and it took a little getting use to holding my hand under my chin. At first i was all over the place but now its awsome, ive never been more consistent then i am now.
Im telling ya..its well worth the price..just try not to get frustrated at first when your all over the place lol...
