Hey all! Another newbie here getting into archery, just joined a similar forum and used this same post basically, I'm sure some people are on both.

I've shot several long/recurve bows of friends over the years and always wanted to look into these and compound as well as hunting.

Well, a recent bargain purchase of a Burris Oracle 2 sight has drawn me in. Pretty ridiculous to get a sight first but I figure I could always sell it if I don't get into the hobby(I like the Burris warranty).
I need to determine draw length and hit up some shops, bass prop or w/e and maybe clubs. I live about 5 miles from an archery range.

Idk if I'll work my way up to taking down a buck but once hunt ready I'm thinking squirrel/rabbit/turkey/waterfowl/pigs.
Thanks for the community and knowledgebase here

Welcome, you won't need that other forum, you'll get personal and better answers/conversations here.
As for your sight, less is more sometimes, think about outside factors such as weather conditions (fog/rain/etc.) that may interfere with a laser. You can post this question in the tech talk or equipment reviews section and you'll get some good feedback.

If you haven't gotten a bow yet, I'd put that sight on the shelf and not worry about using it right away.
Suggest you buy either a new or used packaged bow already set up with sights, peep, string loop, rest, quiver and stabilizer and just get started shooting.
No need to go head over heels and spend a fortune on a first bow. Some of the mid priced stuff today is very high quality and will have you shooting pretty good in no time at all.
