"You're going to have to give up bowfishing!" "How many hundreds of miles will you have to drive to find a lake?" I heard these and many variations of such questions/comments when I told people I'm moving to Utah. The reality is that I'm closer to carp filled water where I'll be in Central Utah than I am here in Central Illinois. This was filmed in a reservoir about 10 miles south of the town I'm moving to. Gazillions of carp in Utah. There's also a reservoir 10 miles to then north that has tons of carp. Then Utah lake is about 30 miles north and has zillions of carp. Some big carp too. (20-30lbs) Some of the water is crystal clear. Even the cloudy water in Utah is usually clearer than much of the water here in IL. The only downside to bowfishing in Utah, is there are no gar or buffs or other fish targets other than common carp. So there.
Yup - there alot of big carp to be found out there...I saw many in the 50+ lb range on the Snake River around Twin Falls ID when I lived out there. Literally 3 to 4ft and some big around as a basketball(a couple were bigger).
I notice that the guys in Northern Utah hit Blackfoot up in Idaho fairly often. Eventually I may get up there but we're about 50 miles south of Provo so it's a bit of hike.
Very cool! I'm still on the edge about now fishing though, over the past year I have grown fond of catching them on rod and reel and releasing them.
