Ok everyone being new to shooting carbon shafts I was wondering I'm pulling 70lb draw at 30" shooting 340 shafts that the dealer set up for me. Is the spine stiffness about right for this and the shafts are 31" with 100 gr heads. But being new to carbons do the numbers going up make for a stiffer spine?

Should be about right for you. I shoot a 400g shaft and have a similar set up to you. The way I understand it is guys like you and I are in this teeter-totter zone where either shaft could work.

A 70 pound bow should be at a .330 - .350 spine. Depending on what you're wanting to achieve you could go to a .300 and a 125 grain tip. .400 is a on the weak side, especially for a newer dual cam bow.
Especially with a longer arrow (31"), you won't want to go any lower than a .340

I guess I skimmed the 31" part. My arrows are only 28.5" long so that stiffens them up quite a bit and my bow shoots them great. If you don't mind me asking, why are your arrows so long?

    What kind of bow?

Most of the newer bows at those specs will need a .300 spine.

It will really depend on what kind of stored energy your bow has. If it's a slower bow your .340 may be fine but if it's one of the faster ones, you may be too weak.

Also if you have any questions this Website really answered a lot of my questions when it came to Carbon arrows http://www.huntersfriend.com/carbon_arrows/hunting_arrows_spine_chart_by_deflection.htm just give it a try, they also make custom arrows.

I'm shooting the 340 spine ICS Hunters at 71#. They seem to fly right.

With that draw length I would shoot a 300 spine for the best tuning of broadheads
