hi , i recently purchased a pse x force ss, i called pse and asked what they suggested as far as the correctly spined arrow for my set up my bow is set at 68lb i am using an octane capture rest and my draw lenth is 29". i was told by the customer service rep that the carbon force 300 series would be fine. i bought a dozen carbon force 300 hunters with blazer vanes and a 100gr f-15 broadhead.i am having a problem with the arrows splitting at the knock. iam shooting at a backyard buck from 20 to 30 yd. when i remove the arrows from the target i have noticed that the arrows have a split in the carbon shaft anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 inch long . iam down to 4 arrows now. i called pse back again last nite and the customer service rep told me that i shouldnt have a problem and they have had no issues with those arrows. she said i can cut the arrow down and still use it. i told her that i threw them away because they could have some damage along the shaft that icant see. she just said o k is there anything else ican help you with. i really dont know what to do now or what arrows ican shoot now . iam very disapointed in the fact that i spent so much money for this bow and now i am afraid to shoot it. __________________________________________________ ugg boots uggs
Of course they're going to recommend their own arrows. Get different arrows. What specific Carbon Force/ PSE arrow do you have? What length is the arrow shaft (just the shaft, not the length with the nock and insert)? What total weight for your arrow are you shooting for? If I remember what I've read, any Carbon Force/PSE arrow that is labeled a 300 is going to be too weak in the spine for a speed bow like yours (actual static spine is around .340 for those). You should shoot for something around .300 spine for your arrows.
my bow is set at 67# and im shooting both easton ST Epics, and easton flatlines with weight inserts. both are spined at .400 and total weight on the epics is right at 430GR, and i dont see any problems with them. i have shot them countless times and no signs of wear or breakage, aside from when i smacked two of the epics together and they kind of exploded. it was actually kind of cool to watch downrange.
What inserts are you using in your flatlines? I'm thinking of using some Flatlines this year, but want a 170gr head, so I'll need to add some weight up front.
actually, the weighted inserts are fishing weights that i made fit in the shaft. they are incredibally consistent in weight. i cant remember what size weight they were, youll have to do some experimenting, but i found that using the tru-fire nock set crimper made them the perfect size to slide in, then just as added insurance i used fletching glue to secure them in place. it was super cheap. i think the bag of 30 was like $1.50 or $2.00. hope that helps.
