It's the original AMC 304 V8. My dad bought the Jeep new in '73. In 2000 we did a complete rebuild. New frame, reinforced fiberglass body, and a zillion accessories. Kept the motor, tran, & axles. Great summer project for a 20 year old. I learned a ton about cars.
My race truck before I totaled it on a crappy track. The MUD WIDOW. This was a screamer the upright headers and the healthy 383 made this truck talk at 7500 rpm.
Probably gonna pick this truck up, this week. I've been wanting another truck for a while, now.....and this one will fit nicely in the budget.....and be a great "run-around/hunting" truck. I'll take some more pics after I add new tires and nerf bars (and possibly a low-profile topper).
I committed a Jeep Sin this week... I went to the local Yota dealership, and drove an FJ, and a Taco... I thought the visibility sucked in my KK when I first bought it... Now I'm used to it. But WHOLLY Crap. the FJ just lowered that bar. That was horrible. It honestly felt like one of those boxes you get when you buy a small critter from petco! But the Taco really got my attention. Decent mileage, and fun to drive. TRD suspension was great (stiff, like I like it.) But, I'm sticking with the Jeep for now. But I would gladly trade in for that truck though.
Nothing special about it, just another Titan. Since these pics, I've added some better tires, General Grabber AT2's. It's got a bit stiffer suspension and the lower gearing that comes with the big tow package, which is all I'll ever need. Eventually I'd like to get a boat and camper to tow with this thing, I plan on driving this one till the wheels fall off. Many of our regulars have heard this and seen the pics many times........but I'll post again for the newer guys. Years ago when I was still in, and then for a few years out of college..........I was a car fanatic, specifically turbo cars. I grew up around a lot of big muscle cars, and started my own project when I finally had the $$$. After a ridiculous amount of money thrown into this project car (bought new and then modded ) , I realized that there really isn't anything in life that you can lose more money on than a project vehicle, so I parted my car out and sold the parts and vehicle, to this day I've never added a single modification to another car. Maybe someday when I come across a mid life crisis I'll get another project, but for now I'm content with a daily driver that can go offroad and tow when I need. Pics of my old project - 01' WE Jetta 1.8T. This was before the FMIC and 50 trim t3/t4, and all the other things that go along with that. At one point this vehicle was putting over 360hp to the wheels, and was trapping around 118ish MPH in the 1/4 mile. This thing put a hurting on a LOT of LS1's and Stangs....lol, it would bark 4th gear on dry pavement.......1st, 2nd and 3rd were nearly worthless. She had some top end on her too...........pretty stupid now that I'm a bit older and I look back at this, but it seemed like a good idea at the time to see where she would wind out at. With the engine management I had on the car at this time my redline was actually 7200, I still had a bit of room to go but I didn't have the stones to stay in it. :D
The dragon the day i got it: And here she is after custom pin-striping, grill paint job, and the edition of a Speedtec lights 3rd generation LED lightbar. Notice Longhorns pride on the hood
Funny, Jeff, I was going to PM you the other day when I saw you mention getting a truck. I was curious as to what you had chosen (I remember you were looking at GMCs). Good choice:D MNKK, I love my Tacoma. It's my second one, and there's a lot more I like about this one compared to my previous generation. I wish the AC model was a bit bigger in the rear, but still, a great truck. I agree about the FJ, it's a blind spot on wheels. RJ, you know you want to modify that truck.:D I know I asked you before, but what kind of mileage are you getting with it now that you've had it for a while? How many miles are on it?
Blasphemy! :D Oh and Caleb, you are now officially the most hardcore Longhorns fan I know. Scary thing is I live down here:D
The mileage is terrible, roughly 14 highway in the winter, or 16 in the summer. I average 13 this time of year, and 14 in the summer. A big part of the mileage is the lower gearing you get in the big tow package. I have buddies that have the same truck without the package, and are getting 3+ mpg more. They can't tow 9500lbs though, I hope it pays off when I finally get a camper to tow between home and my place in PA.
Current ride - 06 F150. Nothing special other than a Leer cap I put on last winter. LOVE that thing. This spring I'll need new tires, probably put something not to sissy-like on it. Ride before that. 98 F150. Nothing too special, but I did love my 285 Goodyear MT's. Ride before that - 95 F150 Lightning. Wish I never sold this truck. 351W with a 302 HO roller cam conversion, stock GT40 intake, ported GT40 heads, full Bassani exhaust, Powerdyne blower, and a Level 10 shift kit. Was running mid 13's when I sold it, which isn't bad for a big heavy stupid truck. I wanted to put a Vortec S-trim on it, but I needed a 4wd truck for hunting duties and couldn't afford both at the time.
04 F-150 FX4 with Leer Cap. Graf always gives me crap saying I copied Justin even though mine is paid off and was purchased 2 years earlier http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd297/jib0726/bowhuntingcom004.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd297/jib0726/S7000846.jpg
Here's mine. Nothing special about it, just plain 'ol stock, but it has 216,000 miles on it and it's still going strong. I pull a 32' gooseneck horse trailer with living quarters and the whole works with it all the time, and even though it's badly overloaded, it still gets the job done. I need to upgrade to a 3/4 ton, but funds just don't allow that.... I'll have to get a picture of it with the horse trailer sometime and post it up..I don't have one right now... I weigh 17,500#'s when I'm hauling 2 horses with that trailer... '95 Chevy 1500 4x4, 5 speed, 350 V8. Wish it had the Vortec though....I could use the power upgrade...lol I'm hoping to put some custom rims and Flowmasters on it next year, if I don't trade it for a 3/4 ton...
Titans don't get very good mileage to begin with (at least from what I've read), that's why I was curious. Love the truck, and in stock form, they are probably some of the best trucks on the road. Good ground clearance, 33's from the factory, available locker, great power, etc.
My old trapping truck. (don't have anymore) My beloved old Warpony. (don't have anymore) My current truck when it was new. First 'new' vehicle. It's now getting close to 'beater' status.
