Okay so I have this Panasonic DV camcorder. I have used windows movie maker to capture the video on my computer for saving and sharing in the past. Now for some reason the video and audio are not synced up when I capture it. The audio starts well ahead of the video (which the amount varies depending on how long the video is). I've tried a different cord and different computer. Same problem so it must be with the camcorder. Even if I had a problem that I could slide the video along the timeline to manually sync it. Any suggestions?
Brad, you may try asking the question at huntingfootage.com... or PM Justin Zarr, as he probably plays with video and editing as much as anyone around here...
Very good. Thanks. This POS is going to get thrown in the garbage after this year........ Problem is I have some video of our 3 year old when he was 6 months on there and need to make sure I get it on the computer first. I am also going to use this as my hunting camera this year. Can't wait to try filming hunts.
Not sure on this one. If it's the camcorder you can always try putting the tape into another one and running a test that way. If it still happens, it may be the tape. The most common source that I've seen for this problem is on the PC end. If the computer isn't capturing audio as quickly as it's capturing video this can happen. Usually you want to do a basic system clean up and defrag the drive and then try again. Although it's a relatively new PC and runs okay otherwise, it still may be the camcorder or the tape.
Interesting. Maybe it's a computer system resource problem as you suggested. It plays perfect when you just view the video either by using RCA's to a TV or even just using the USB to connect to the computer. In other words, when I am capturing the video it is in sync. Just not when you playback the video you just captured. That is why I didn't think it was the tape.
