Its all good. I know what you mean about the crazy spending. I know a local guy that pays an instructor to drive from over an hour away to come work on basketball skills with his son three mornings a week. In the full court gymnasium the guy built for his son!! He spent over $350K on an indoor court and is confident that his son will make a D1 school team. Just imagine what that $350K would have been worth in 10 years. It would have grown by over 80K just last year alone!!

HAHAHA... basketball could be the worse. Every parent in the gym is a referee. 98% of them don't know what they are saying lol.

My daughters team was up by 20 at half and a kids parent starts talking loudly on the phone saying "dey aint dat good we just aint playing as a team!". We ended up winning by 40. And that was tame compared to others. I need to bring earphones.

Did I ever mention youth sports parents are horrible? I've been sitting for two days at my daughter's bball tourney and have heard very obnoxious comment known to man. I am seriously considering earplugs.

There's no doubt there are too many parents living vicariously through their child. Their's nothing more irritating than parents that don't put in the time and effort to coach, or even know the rules but they feel they have the right to argue calls with the umpire or coaches from other teams. Happened to me last night. Our batter stepped into the box with her hand held back to the umpire asking for time while she settled in the box. The pitcher pitched the ball before our girl even got her second hand on the bat. I called time out and was discussing the issue with the umpire. The parents started yelling that if the batter is in the box then the pitcher can pitch. PLEASE at least know your rules before you open your mount. The batter was requesting time and the pitcher is required to at least act like she is taking a sign before she can pitch. It would also be great if the umpires knew and understood the rules too. Considering they are ASA certified umpires, they should at least know the basics of game play.

Being a soccer referee I can tell you it's great fun, 90% of what comes out of their mouth is wrong.

My daughter was at a hockey tournament a few weeks ago and there was a parent with a stopwatch that would stand behind the bench and let the coach know when 45 seconds were up. for what she deemed to be a proper length of time to be on the ice per shift. If he didn't do a shift change right at 45 seconds, she would give him updates every 10 seconds as to the time these kids of been on the ice. These are 10-year-old girls.

I do not miss parents of kids you are coaching, they tend to be critical of how the team plays. They have no idea the time and effort it takes to put together practice plans, finding drills that work and keep kids interested in practice all while trying to teach fundamentals. I used to invite any complaining parent to join the board or come on out and help coach practice. Complaining without action is whining and I will not listen to whining.

While umpiring a little league baseball game and at the point when 4 parents from each team were out on the field yelling about a call, I looked at the boys standing in the center of the field and the boys on the bench and then asked each group of boys if they still wanted to play. When both groups readily said that they did, I turned to the parents and said if any of you so much as burp, I will throw you out and the boys and I will then finish and play a great game. Got out of the umpiring/ coaching shortly after that.

I need this thread again. Two days of being surrounded by crazy sports parents. I keep telling myself I need earphones for this crap and I never bring them into the game. Next game I am....Absolute lunatics everywhere.

With this county closing in on 500,000 residents, you may be right.
