Hunting From Vehicles and Boats It is unlawful to hunt, disturb, harass or take any protected bird or mammal by the use or aid of an automobile, vehicle or conveyance, any type of watercraft, aircraft or any machine propelled by mechanical power Hunting Devices and Ammunition Restrictions It is unlawful to: hunt any protected species except with a gun or bow and arrow. The above was copied and pasted from the Illinois Digest of Hunting and Trapping Regulations I think an arguement can be made he is out "hunting" for deer to run over . I would think what he is doing could be harrassing deer .
No way he has insurance on that POS. If by some chance he does....the company would have dropped his comp coverage after the 3rd or 4th claim. As far as the legality, he's hitting them on purpose, so failure to avoid might stick. But the truck is built like a tank, so I'd guess damage is minimal and he's not reporting them. Sooner or later a deer will come through the windshield and we won't hear anymore from the guy.
The guy built a vehicle to smack deer with,he is promoting a video that displays how he kills deer purposely with his vehicle. You can hear him accelerate and see him swerve to hit a deer on one of the you tube clips. There is no question as to his intent. The only question is what vehicle and traffic laws and game laws is he possibly violating? I hope they find some thing to arrest him on!!!!!!!!!
I agree somewhat that it will be hard to make a charge "stick". However, if he swerves to, accelerates, or slows to make contact with only one of those animals on his video, the IL DNR will take him out. IL is pretty hardcore when it comes to game laws and prosecution.
This is crazy. I haven't loaded the video yet, but I heard about this guy over the weekend. Kampsville is only about a 30 minute drive for me, and I go through there once a week for work.
I just found this thread. Intentionally hitting those deer would fall under "taking game by illegal means" so he would get charged with poaching for each deer individually plus if any of those deer were taken out of season it would result in an additional charge for each of those deer as well. Then he would be charged with an overlimit of deer. All of these would be seperate charges and all would stick. Also, they might be able to get him for reckless driving. If they made each of the reckless driving counts stick he could lose his license. Either way if the insurance companies caught wind of this you can bet nobody would want to touch him. Claims made or not. I didn't get to see the video (?) from the first link so I'm not sure what he was "selling", but if it was the deer then I'm sure he would be nailed for that as well. I would say he is pretty screwed. It's a good thing he is in jail because some people just shouldn't be allowed to breed.
WTF!? What Moron!!! There is probably a law some where that make illegal to profit from the promotion of illegal activities. Irregardless I think they have more than enough to put the screws to him for quite some time if they so choose.
