Hey guys i was going to get a good camera for hunting and whatnot and was wanting to know if the T3i is worth it for hunting footage. I have been filming my own stuff for about 3 years now and have been doing it all with just a handy cam and have captured some pretty cool stuff! I have herd that DSLRs are hard to self film with but i will prolly use it for still shots and most everything else and then if there is a time i need to shoot i will have my handy cam running as well to capture the kill shot. What do you guys think about all of this?

All we use is DSLR's and we love them. we have a few t3i's and i love filming with them. They are difficult to self film with them but it can be done. The quality is great and i love that if i want to take still pictures i don't have to carry two cameras. Overall i think it would be a great choice but i don't do much self filming, i am usually filming someone else or they are filming me.
Here is a video shot with a T3i if you would like to see the quality.

I have a t3i and love it it's always in my pack, I don't self film but I film deer that I would not shoot and other stuff that comes by to show back at camp. It also takes great pictures for hero shots!!!

In my experience, self filming with a DSLR can be pretty tough. Great for static situations, but when you have to zoom in and out, and refocus it's pretty impossible to do and still be able to get the shot off. It's still something you should have in your arsenal of tools for filming though, so I'd highly recommend getting a DSLR. I would just rely on a camcorder for self filming the actual shot.

you can get a t3i package that has a 18-135 lens and that would be pretty good for an all around lens so you don't have to keep switching lenses. That won't zoom really far but it will reach out there a little ways. Also you can get a t3i with an 18-55 and a 55-250 kit lens and that zoom lens will zoom pretty far.

I believe you can find the Kit with the 18-135 for around 750-800

Great video! What lens(es) are you using with the T3i? I've been looking into DSLRs myself and the T3i is one I'm interested in.

Good looking video! I'm planning to add a better soon lens to my T5i this year as I only have the 18-55.
