I use one. I don't have any video online to share but it does well. I would like a little better sound but I never looked into if you can add a mic or not. I didn't film as much as I planned this year. The only hunt we filmed my friend was on camera duty and he used his own camera.

how do you like the touch screen instead of manual button? And have you had any problems with the focus?

My gloves don't work with it but otherwise it's great. I have not had any issues with the focus.

I ran the vixia hf r400 for a couple years.. It wasn't bad at all, especially starting out.. I think you will find that you like the 500 for starting out, but will eventually want to upgrade the more you get into it.. You cant beat the price point on the 500 either. The auto-focus can get a little hairy at times but until you get used to running a camera in a tree, auto focus may be the way to go. Im sure there are a lot more guys on here with more experience than I have that may be able to answer that question better.. Im now just starting to feel comfortable with manual focus on my camera.
