I'm on the fence about if I should get the camera or not....I mean, what am I going to do, watch my own hunts....??? I just don't know if it's worth this kind of money to film hunts.... Why not just get a cheaper camera R700 WHICH I HAVE and film with it...Why do I need a G40? If I do pull the trigger on the G40 which lanc???? ...... Just thinking out loud? Creeks
The lanc remotes make things a little easier as there is less movement required to adjust zoom, power on and record. Of course you can just film with a R700 but you will loose some quality and low light performance. I use a VariZoom and have been happy so far. It's not too expensive and is easy to operate.
Anything from the Varizoom lineup for Canon cameras will do the trick nicely. I personally use the VZStealthLX with my Sony and it's very easy to use, and cuts way down on the amount of movement in the stand compared to trying to run the controls from the camera. There are other brands out there and some cheap ones, but my experience says to stick with the Varizoom for quality and functionality.
Varizoom Stealth. I tore the wires out of one of my Lanc controllers last year while climbing a tree, before I learned to electric tape everything to the fluid head arm to protect it. Had to film that one hunt without a Lanc. Totally blew a shot opp on that hunt because I was screwing around with running the cam without the controller. I'd never want to have to self film without it, too many things to do if your looking at the cam to run it while also trying to take a shot. The Lanc makes it easy and reduces your movement in the tree substantially.
Will the Varizoom work with Panasonics? With my new setup i need to use a controller this year. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
What model? If it has a LANC connection it should work just fine with it. Here is a link specifically for Panasonic cameras on their website. http://www.varizoom.com/panasonic-lens-controls-s/1815.htm
