My buddies and I are planning a fishing trip next year. We're looking for place that has cabins(nothing special needed), boat rentals and good walleye/smallmouth fishing. I hope we're not asking for too much. I'm hoping we dont have to drive much more than 10hrs from central PA to get there. Do you guys have any recommendations? Also what time of year would you recommend; spring, summer or early fall? Thanks

How many cabins would you need? Sharbot lake in Ontario has great smallmouth/largemouth fishing as well as good northern pike. There is walleye, but I've never fished for them. My parents own a cottage there and we've been going there since 1988. There are several good cottage rentals along the lake I can point you to if you're interested. It's 6.5hrs from Williamsport.

Dan on here owns and runs Cygnet Lake Camp, I've seen some of the pics of their success, and they seem to have a good operation.

Thanks for the info guys. There will be at most 8 of us going, so it depends on the cabin size. Dans outfit does look nice but according to mapquest it would take us 26 hours to get there, so thats out. Thanks though

I'd say early fall is your best bet for the walleyes, and spring for the smallies. At least that's how it is here, and we're practically Canadian. Truth be told, you'll have a blast not matter when you go.

A guy I used to work with took a trip to Lake Nipissing, Ontario. Had a great time. That should be "fairly" close to you.

My father fished this lake a LOT as a kid, lots of stories and pics I've seen over the years.
