I have read different things saying that you can use cotton balls in a film canister as scent wicks. But do they hold and disperse the scent as well? Tell me what you guys think.

    Thanks! :)

sure, but cotton balls don't have that handy hole to stick a branch thru.

This past weekend I had thrown about 5 cotton balls soaked in doe estrus in a line from left to right in front of my blind and the first buck that came in walked that very line. My father swears by them and I do to. You can easily stretch the cotton on any branch or limb.

growing up my uncle did this, he stored them in old medicine bottles then put them out on stumps or in the forks of sapplings.

I use unscented tampons. They conveniently have a string attached so that you can tie them to a limb.

Plus, you can get a box of forty to the same price as a package of five scent wicks.

I concur on the tampon. I rarely use scents much anymore but if I were going to desire to hang some, unscented tampons is the way to go.

Killed one of my first with a bow over a film canister with cotton balls and vanilla extract inside.

I just took an old hunting t-shirt that had been washed in scent free detergent, cut it into strips, sprayed them down with scent killer and put them in a ziplock bag.

Then when i was checking my cameras today i tied a few to the branches over scrapes (No more leaves to hold scent) and sprayed forehead gland scent into them. Well see how it works next week.
