Can you move in and kill a deer with a bow in under two weeks?

Fair enough, I see what you're saying.

I would say my land is slightly above average for hunting. I'm not sure how to classify an average piece of land.

So if I'm blindfolded and teleported to an average piece of property somewhere in the US would I be able to kill a deer in 2 weeks? I'd still have to say yes. Some time to figure out food, bed, funnels, pinchpoints, etc... and set up accordingly I think within 2 weeks I'd (and most everyone here) would have one on the ground. I dont' consider myself a great hunter (especially compared to dudes on this site). I've always said my biggest asset is time I'm able to be out there and determination to get it done. There are a lot more knowledgable folks out there than me when it comes to hunting. However I still say 2 weeks is a lot of time for someone with basic deer hunting knowledge.

If I had all day to hunt every day for 2 weeks straight, I'm pretty confident I could kill a deer on an "average" piece of property. In most cases all you'd need to do is find a couple spots where the deer are feeding and sit over them in the evenings. Do that for two weeks straight and I would imagine a deer (any deer) is bound to show up during shooting light.

In 2007 at the Campbell Outdoor Challenge Christine and I killed 3 deer in 5 days on two pieces of property we had never set foot on before. The next year Mike and I killed a 130" buck and a doe in exactly 3 sits on another piece of property we'd never set foot on. On both trips we also passed shots at multiple deer in addition to the ones we killed. Granted, we were probably hunting above average ground, but it was by no means spectacular.

Give me my bow, a Lone Wolf Alpha Hang-On and a set of climbing sticks and I'm good to go.

Challenge Accpeted! I am hunting some Quota Hunts this year and I will only Scout the week before the 4 day hunt and see if I can kill a deer in that time frame. Seems like a nice challenge.

If I was hunting the same type of terrain that I do here, I am confident that I could kill a deer in two weeks. I have never hunted big woods, so I would have to learn the basics all over again. In past seasons of actually hunting hard, I have killed a deer within the first week of season opening.

    Define "average" piece of land.
Do I get to pre-scout the area first?
Do I get to hunt everyday for 2 weeks?

I've gone into brand new places and have had deer in range 1st sit. I've also hunted my long time hunting grounds and struggeld. But then again I can't remember the last time I got to hunt every day for any length of time.

I will find out soon.. I just obtained 3700 acres of woods to hunt on. I have yet to get any free time to do any scouting with my current work schedule, and do not see any free time in the future. All i have done is used google earth to look at the property. A small creek runs through the center of it, which will be my target area for hanging stands. There are a few crop fields aroun the woods from what it looks like. It will be a adventure this season to say the least. I have been told there are some monster racks in this area.

Yes, I'm fairly confident I could kill "a" deer in 2 weeks with no knowledge of a property. Although, after 30+ years of bowhunting I have learned nothing is a gimme, and there is no way to predict a deers every footstep, but I'd like to think I could get it done. Would be a fun challenge.

I've done it multiple times over my hunting career. For me it seems like the longer I hunt a place the become more scarce.
To clarify for the doubters in the group it was not baited either. Walk on and kill a deer.

Unless you are hunting some really sub average hunting land I can't see any reason why this would be hard. If you were limited to tiny acreage or a certain time frame, maybe. Other than that I can't think of anything that should stop you(maybe pressure). For example if you are hunting an early bow season on land with deer and food and you have two weeks...dead deer.

Having said all that and probably jinxing myself I will let you know how some of my own results turn out this season as I am hunting at least 2 maybe 3 new pieces of public land. I definitely won't have 2 weeks though but I'm still pretty confident. I've been hunting marshland a ton the past couple of seasons and I'm hooked, one of the new areas I'll be hunting is about 550 huntable acres with a little less than 1/2 marsh(surrounded by more woods and marsh that is private property)I'm hoping to apply some of th stuff I've learned lately there and have a secret honeyhole since it seems most don't like to walk or get wet. My scouting will be done from this desk and on foot with my stand on my back.

2 weeks? Hunt everyday all day? I'd say no problem.

I think you're asking more if like some guy in town told me I could hunt his 50 acre piece and I just showed up and hunted at my usual 4 evenings and 1 morning per week. I'd say 50/50.

A deer, any old deer, buck doe or fawn...if the avg piece of property Is big (100 ac or bigger) enough that I have the flexibility to move ...then I say yes I can stick one in two weeks ...maybe 75% of the time.....nothing In life is 100 sure except death and taxes

If someone told me that i had to go kill any deer regardless of age and size in two weeks and i got a piece of property with any deer population what so ever i am very confident that i could do it just set up between the food and bedding area and you're bound to see a young doe wandering by soon now if they said i had to kill a mature buck (4.5 and older) i wouldn't be so sure.

The land I hunt is well below avg. for my area.

Thats what I get to hunt each year, two weeks. Killed good bucks 6 years in a row....no buck last year :-(. As for any deer, I passed a hand full of does and a half dozen young bucks in the 80 to 120 range last year.

To answer the qustion....yes, I could kill a deer (ANY DEER) on any property that holds deer, if given two weeks to hunt.
