So I posted on another post and looked at the calender, and a question came to mind. This year, Hanukkah falls on Thanksgiving. So, since its not near Christmas, are we able to say Marry Christmas this year? Are we able to say happy Thanksgiving? Am I crossing a line with these questions? Just wondering what the plan is this year, its hard to keep up with peoples feelings these days.
I have always said Merry Christmas to people. If they don't like it, they don't have to return the salutation. But I never say it before December. I saw Wally World putting out Christmas stuff last week, and that IMO is crass.
Never been one to try to be politically correct. I am saying Merry Christmas because that's what I believe in. Can't say I have ever had anyone chew my *** for saying it regardless what their faith is! And if that ever happens then he/she needs to go to therapy.
The holiday order goes Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. Let's not sell stuff for the next holiday before the other has happened. We're all still going to buy the stuff, so just wait.
Lol this thread was more of a joke of course then anything. It is an annoying topic though. To think there are people out there so up tight that wishing them a good day on or around a holiday upsets them.
IV, about 3 weeks ago I was going thru Menards in Wisconsin and they had their entire Christmas Tree and light are fully up decorated and lit !!!
Last time I checked this was America. You can say whatever the **** you want too say. If someone doesn't like it too bad.
Can that mentality ever cross the line? Would it be appropriate to say Hail Hitler or praise the KKK? Seriously, perhaps saying "whatever the %^*+ you want" may be a large part of the problem with much of the world. Perhaps considering the needs of others before opening ones mouth might reduce global conflict (countries, religions etc.)? Happy holidays... When the time comes! T
Think most of us will stick with whatever we want. But thanks for your opinion and incase i forget in December merry Christmas
Theres a difference when your supporting hate crimes/genocide and crimes against humanity. Not a valid arguement.
Considering "christmas" is a commercial holiday that has very little religious meaning (I don't recall which chapter of the Bible Santa Claus was in), I'm all for saying it. As long as noone else tries to convince me that there is some religious significance to the month. Can't wait to hear what nice religious "christmas" tune Miley Cyrus comes up with this year. Something about "rocking on a yule log" no doubt.....
I used to say merry xmas or a variety of holiday sayings but as soon as the PC police said it was wrong to say Merry Christmas now that's all I say and if you don't like it WELL LA DE FRICKEN DA.
And it's ok to say happy holidays. They don't even realize that derives from holy days.:D Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
When I was a kid, we used to get the Sears and Roebuck catalogue and the J. C. Pennys catalogue in the mail in early December. My brother and I took turns looking at the toy sections to decide on what to ask Santa to give us for Christmas. After Christmas was over, those catalogues became the TP at Grandpa and Grandma's house. When the commercials started taking over the airwaves before even Thanksgiving long after I became an adult, it sickened me. In our house, we open the presents on Christmas Eve and keep Christmas as a day to celebrate the ultimate gift that was given to all.
