Not to make light of this topic or the other major one at hand here in the water cooler, but I've been thinking about this one for a while, and since many of you on here are religious (and a few are not which will make this perfect), I thought I would open the floor to share your opinions on this.

This may be short lived, and the answer may be in front of me and I don't know it, but curiosity is getting the best of me.

If God (leaving religions and denominations definitions aside) was the original creator (the counter to atheists and/or primarily scientific people argument of the big bang originating all matter and beings). Who created God?

If the argument exists that God can exist without an originator, then surely the argument against the Big Bang Theory couldn't have started from nothing is moot.

    Thoughts?

Not possible to answer your question. Thats where "faith" kicks in.

Impossible, they died in the flood created by God like 5000 years ago.

Honestly, I believe there is a lot we don't know about yet. "Faith" doesn't play a part in it for me, thirst for knowledge does.

    Siman actually nailed it.

I've been a Christian since I could understand right from wrong and our innate desire to sin and the need for a Saviour to reconcile us to God... yet, from that time this has been my one unanswerable question -- even given much study on my part.

My solution is that I will ask Him when I get to meet Him one day.

Think as god as a circle. There is no beginning and there is no end. He never was created because he always was and will always be.

    I dunno.

Maybe God creator of the universe, earth, life as we know it, is the son of some other god that is god of some other place....

Or perhaps God, creator of Time, went back in time to create himself....

Or maybe Regis or Larry King made him...

Not when it comes to God. God is the only true timeless thing.

My position on this is there are some things about this world the human mind can't comprehend. This is one of them.

If you are looking for someone to provide logical, concrete, arguments with sound reasoning to prove their points, you are not going to get it on this topic. You either believe in the concept or you don’t.

If anyone is interested, I can explain my thoughts on why I believe there is a god. But that might be considered a thread hijack and not really the point of this thread.

I know what the "God of Gaps" mean and that is proof for some that there is a god. I'm not sure about that as a good reasoning.

To the cynical human mind, you bet there are gaps of the other side. And to be honest, I have some gaps of my own that I’m not sure about. Again, I have thought about things long and hard and have determined that there is a much greater chance of there being a god than there not being a god. I have my reasons why I think this.

I believe someday it will all make sense and those gaps will be filled. It's not for us to fully understand yet. Part of what you earn with god is putting your faith and trust in him without knowing every single detail. That faith is later rewarded IMO.
