Can someone explain why prostitution is still illegal?

the spread of STDs? why would they have to regulate it? if you have sex with a prostitute, you willfully choose to assume the risk of contracting an STD

I could see brothels being legal, but not street hooking. I think that would be a decent way to regulate the industry.

Well this has been interesting. I would never vote to legalize it. I wouldn't dare take the risk of increasing human trafficking and I strongly believe you should be in a committed marriage to raise a child. I don't see how legalizing it would help either of those.

But since this country's politics are pretty messed up right now, I'm sure there is a good chance it will happen. I will raise my kids to understand how twisted it is and make sure they never set foot in one on either side of the bed. As for the STD things, I fall under the natural selection mentality. If your stupid enough to get aids or herpes by prostitution sucks for you I don't care. Plus they would then boost our medical industry.

I don't see how it would be a good thing in any way.

The fact that this is even still being debated and taken seriously by a segment of society shows just how defunct morality has become...what a shame.
