So I just dusted off my old '98 Browning Fusion II and I am wondering if this bow is worth fixing up for hunting.

A little background: I had a ~40# small compound that I shoot all through junior high and highschool, and I was given this bow when I was 17. It has a 60-80# pull and 30-32" draw... by the time I got it I wasn't spending as much time shooting and I never shot this bow very much. It has been in the closet for about 10 years and I am finally in a place to pick it up again. I've searched the web for info on this bow and I couldn't find much. I gather that it was one of the last bows manufactured by Browning Archery before the brand was sold to PSE in 2000. That's about it.

I need new arrows (carbon?), and I've had people recommend that I get a Whisker Biscuit to replace the ancient drop away rest and replace the current giant sight box with something newer. I guess what I'm asking is this: is this bow worth fixing up or is it too outdated and does anyone know anything about the quality of Browning Archery and the Fusion II in particular? I don't really feel like dropping big bucks for a new bow right now, but I would like to be able to hunt white tail this year or next. Any thoughts?

Depending on the condition of the limbs and strings you may or may not be able to use it. If there are obviously marks or scratches on the limb or hairline cracks DON'T USE IT. If the string is frayed or showing many signs of damage again don't use it and replace the string. You may have trouble finding new limbs and strings so in that case you may be better off trying to find a used bow on the archery talk classifieds. Many used bows are posted their every day and you may find a good deal on a completely set up bow. Good luck

Short answer is no. It's probably not worth any investment.
For example, at the very min you must replace the strinh and maybe cables... Low end 40 bucks plus
A Sight, rest, ect all going cheap before you know it your dropping 200 into 15 year old bow.

Your better off getting something newer and working with that.
