With the exception of the fact that I suck........This has been the most successful turkey season I think I've ever had. I have hunted 4 days and have taken 2 shots at longbeards. I mean, getting ONE shot is tough enough, but TWO?? Forget about it. I have 1 day of vacation I need to use, and I'm gonna use it Friday. Season ends on Sunday, so I'll have 3 days to get it done. I mean really.........Now I'm pushing my luck. THREE shots in a single season?? If it happens, it'll be a first for me. I'll be adding a strutting jake to my set as well. My single hen just isn't getting it done. They just aren't paying her any attention. I'm just situated in a good spot that the turkeys frequent. But man, if I could get them in close and distracted......and maybe arm my decoy with a remotely operated shotgun.......Maybe, just maybe..........I could create a photo opportunity.
Lol i hear ya man. Just went Saturday and had two big ol gobblers run in on me, and thwack, nothing but a new hair cut on that longbeard :/
JUST got through hot-gluing some secondary feathers that had worked loose back on my jake fan in preparation for tomorrow's hunt. I LOVE how my set looks now -- even if the turkeys don't. :D But "I've" got confidence in it now, so if nothing else it gives me the ablity to sit longer... Gotta go... alarm going off at 4:15 for the boy and me!
