I have a 100 mile drive to where I hunt and a mile hike in to the stand so I sit all day. Snacks, a thermos and my phone make it doable. I only glance at the phone on occasion as it cost me deer twice and that really sucked. I have no problem sitting all day in my Summit climber but often am sitting in a Lone Wolf hang on stand. Mid-day from about Oct 25 to Thanksgiving is my preferred time to sit all day.

I do probably 5-10 per year but the older I get, the harder it is. A thermos of coffee, food and good phone service helps alot.

I'm usually 5 hours from home, in the middle of nowhere. So if I leave the woods, I have nothing to do anyways except pass out in the truck :eek2:

I'm blown away with the number of views/posts this thread has gotten! It tells me at least the interest is there for sitting all day. :tu:

I sit all day the last 4 Saturdays of archery and any other day I can from November on.

It's about comfort. Ol Man climber, coffee, water and food.

I never understood why so many guys get out at noon or 1 just to get back in at 3. That's double the entrance/exits.

Oh yea.....and a Mophie battery pack.....gotta have that.

I am a weekend warrior....my job does not allow me to get out during the week. I sit all day but am prepared. Food...I have a plan of eating at 9:00am, again at noon and then again at 2:00pm. It's a good pace to keep me warm. Always carry a Gatorade bottle when I need to relieve myself. Also, I pack a 5-hour energy shot for that 10:00am-2:00pm time frame as I tend to get a little drowsy...certainly keeps you alert. Oh yeh...resist the urge to check your phone or play on facebook...you may get caught. It happened to me last year

Very rarely do I sit all day around home.. not sure why.. When I travel to Ohio or Indiana, thats all I do, dark to dark sits. Maybe its because when I travel to those states, all I have to do is hunt...

I will do all day sits at least ten days a season. Some of my public land spots I want no one to find I'm in all day. Love doing it. Lots of food and water and hot chocolate and I'm In all day no problem

If I do an all day sit I always move at least once usually twice. Yes bucks move around mid day but I hunt because I enjoy it, if I torture myself it takes some of the fun away.

When I was younger I would sit all day every single day from the opening day of bow season to the last day of bow season. My seasonal career allowed me the ability to do so. I will tell you it can drive a man insane lol (see the movie the shining). Maybe the reason I am the way I am. I think I was trying to kill myself. As long as it was light, I was in the woods.

Now? No way in hell. I had a revelation a few years back. I'm enjoying it way more than I ever have. I still go out a ton. Just about every day morning and afternoon). But I've shortened up my sits. The old body isn't what it used to be. I'm trying some different things to make it more fun too. Fixated on killing a nice buck from the ground. Still hunting standing corn is cool too. Not effective yet, but fun trying. I've killed a whole lot of deer in my life. Finding the fun in it instead of seeming like work. Trying to set up my son on a nice buck and teaching him the ropes too. That being said, I'll probably do 3 or 4 all day sits coming up here pretty soon.

You make a great point about making it fun. I like to hunt within an hour of my house and never go out of state. However I work at a college and I had two kids that went there the hunted with me every weekend. Now they invite me up to New York every year for the rut and we have a blast. I never thought I would do anything like that. By the way what stand are you hunting all day from?

I do. I killed my biggest (155”) at 12:30. Definitely makes it easier when it’s paid off before.
