Is it to far gone into the pop stratosphere or is there still a chance at saving it?

There are some good things going on in country IMO.... Eric Church, Randy Houser, Gary Allen, Jamey Johnson etc.... But can they (and others) reverse what the Sugarlands, Kenny Chesneys and Rascal Flatts did to country music?

Doubt it but I have never heard of one of those artists. But I don't listen to country very much. I only enjoy old country like Cash and Hank.

Although I am a Strait fan... You know he has never wrote any of the hit songs he has recorded?

Scott, Red dirt isnt even country. Its mellow southern rock :D

Johnny Cash is country/western (old school country)
    Gary Allen is country
    Kenny Chesney is country/island music
    George Strait is country

Real country music is Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn, old Tim McGraw, Reba, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson.

FYI, Tayler Swift has written more #1 songs then George Strait :o

Country? Isn't that a description of a geographical location? :p

Johnny Cash was old school country.
    Willie Nelson is country.
    Charlie Daniels is country.
...all others are some kind of annoying twangy pop.

Give me classic rock and hard rock anyday!

Funny, I used to hear country fans say the same thing thirty years ago, the only difference was the names of the artists they didn't approve of. Having grown up in the 60s and 70s I've listened to a great many "country" acts in the last nearly 50 years, and while the sound may have changed to suit the audience to which it's being played the feelings and stories haven't changed a bit. If you don't like what's on then change the channel.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nashville isn't about talant its about marketing. If you can look good and the dubbers and editors and mixers can make you sound 1/2 way decent you can be a star.

You know how you know you're getting old? You start whining about how much country music has changed. That's something I could see my grandpa complaining about before he passed away. How Garth Brooks and those poachers from Brooks and Dunn ruined country music and musicians like Dwight Yoakam, Patsy Cline and Hank Williams Sr. were the real deal.

Sorry my friend, you're officially an old man. Time to bust out the Ovaltine and peruse through your Reader's Digest.

Dude...I can't believe you just said the dreaded words of ssssu...I can't do it. I do like some of Rascal Flatts stuff, but I wouldn't consider them country in the sense that you are using.

I still can't get over the fact that you put "Them" in a post.
