Unfortunately, I have to agree with you and for that reason, we should stay out of it.

We are going to go the way of Rome.....1) expand our empire so much globally that we forget our own people figuratively and literally in terms of costs. 2) Allow our people to become lazy and live off the state instead of taking personal responsibility which decreases the mental strength of future generations=we are not going to be the world power in 50-100 years. Maybe less.

Seems simple enough until you realize that puts you on Al-Qaeda's side. That whole region over there is such a mess

we have too many issues to fix here for ourselves. We need to fix ourselves before we can help fix anyone else. Thats why other countries dislike the U.S. They see all of our problems and we do nothing to address them and we still stick our nose where it doesnt belong. Trust me, I am all for flexing my muscle when needed (hell thats what we're good at), i just dont think this is one of those times.

Clinton said not too long ago that Syrian leader Al-Assad was a "reformer". Now Obama wants to hit him with missiles. This administration changes its stance whenever it thinks it will build support for the party. If you want to take action against Syria, get the UN Security Council to pass a measure.

Actually, you may need a little history lesson, because nearly every member of Congress voted for military action against Iraq. And Iraq was promised by Saddam Hussein to be welcome land for terrorists. Remember it was believed that much of Saddam's chemical arsenal may have travelled wear across the desert into Syria. Truth be told, this action at the onset is has far less international support than going into Iraq the second time had.

It's amazing how many people forget this. But there's really no "may have" to it. The Iraqi chemical weapons stockpiles existed. Hell, the convoy bunkers are still there now. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Iraq had chemical weapons. With the UN breathing down his neck, do you think Saddam would have just pile up a bunch of stuff in a building somewhere? Hell no. Somebody would have opened their mouths, and the whole world would have known about it. They were put on trucks and moved from bunker to bunker.

It's not like it was a big secret that we were coming into Iraq to get them, and it's not like you can just toss a few thousand tons of Sarin in the landfill. Look at Iraq on the map. The ONLY country on their borders that they hadn't attacked or threatened is Syria. Interestingly enough, both Syria and Iraq were controlled by the Ba'ath party. Nationalism in the middle east is a very rare thing. Most of those countries didn't even exist as we know them until after WWII. Instead of nationalism, they have tribal solidarity and religious affiliation. When you consider that Islam is as much a system of government as a faith, you'll see that religion IS politics. In that light, what better place to hide your dirty laundry than a place you KNOW has the same views as you?
