bought a boat last year and the trailer aint the greatest but it works... its starting to show rust pretty bad cause the salt water around here is a killer....dont wanna buy a new on one yet so im thinking of wire brushing it and spraying it down with Rust Oleum... ive never used it and i saw they sell Primer that prevents rust also.... should i just use the paint with a few coats and primer or dont worry about putting down a primer coat??? im not real worried about looks just want it to look decent

also thinking about hitting the hang on stands, definatly those that are showing a little rust?? and thinking about a coat on the new ones i order.. anyone else done that to keep em around?

I've never used rustoleum but I have used POR-15. That stuff is amazing! It neutralizes and seals rust spots. Here is a pic from when I restored my truck. It is sprayed with por-15 but you can brush it on too. Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention that you dont need a primer for the por-15(por stands for "paint over rust"). I will warn you that it is realatively exspensive but does a great job.
