I saw a company the other day that has the same name as a gun shop in NY. But this was a hunting company, like hunters specialties. Is this legal? Is it asking for trouble?

I think it all comes down to copyright and who owns the rights, of either do.

I've seen a lot of businesses have the same name and are not affiliated wih each other. Usually a product will have the copyright and name protection but Apple, Samsung etc. have copyright prptection. If they had one I would imagine they could probably force the business to change their name. Even if they were in business before the product was brought to market.

It's all legal maneuvers and lots of threats etc..
