i just got a 8 week old Brittany Spaniel pup and i was wondering if they could be trained for shed hunting. i know that they are good bird dogs just don't know if they would be a effective shed dog.

With the right training, I would imagine any dog could be a useful shed dog.

Check out this link to a good source of information about training bird dogs to be good shed dogs. A lot of the same principles for retriever training are implemented here. Good luck and be sure to post pics of the monster sheds you and your four-legged companion are sure to find!

She is not the best, but she has found a fair share over the years.
