I'd say Realtree AP would be the one of the best. Or if you want top end go for Mathews Lost Camo

I switched over to Predator this year spring and loved it. I have Deception Brown in warp knit/rain proof parka and bibs, and am getting fleece vest and pants in Fall Brown or Deception Brown for the dry weather.

Bought a complete set of UltimateCamo, should be in soon...

So I can't give you a real life explanation, however I did spend hard earned money on something that I believe will help me for early season. As others have mentioned, to date it is only offered in lighter clothing. I suppose I could have went up a size if I wanted to layer. However, if it's that good, I'll be placing another "x-large sized" order - tbd...

It's funny how all my clothes keep shrinking as I get older:rolleyes:

As you can see, lot's of camo junkies here.If I had to pick my favorite two patterns they would be ASAT and Predator Fall Grey.A decent pattern Enigma can be purchased in a great material (wolfskin) relatively inexpensively.

I've have used my share of different camo...everything from the old treebark stuff to predator. My new cabelas suit happens to be Realtree AP.

I've never really found that it really matters much what I wear?

If you place your tree stands in good cover and stay still when the animal looks in your direction…the camo choice becomes a mute point IMO.

I am more interested in the functionality of the clothing I buy (warmth, wind/water proof, how well it fits). After those type of considerations I will live with whatever the camo choices are for the product I choose.

Add Natural Gear to your list of considerations. I've had deer look dead at me while wearing it out in the open and go right back to what they were doing. You could tell that they had keyed on my movement, but they didn't appear to be able to focus on the pattern. They didn't view me as a threat though, and they didn't run. The only other gear that has given me that result was ASAT.

I will be using my UC early season and purchasing predator Fall gray for the rest of the season. I recently sold most of my MOB on ebay it is just to dark.

I've got to say that if you are hunting out of a treestand then the MO Treestand would be hard to beat. The other factor that I look at is availability, while I think all camo will do the job (it's more about being still and scent free anyways) it is a lot harder to find the fabrics that you will want if you do not go with one of the big 2.

Take Bass Pro for instance, I've never seen ASAT, Predator or any of the others mentioned in their store maybe in the catalog, but not the store. I like to have plenty of options when looking for my clothing so this is something else to think about.

Good luck and you really can't go wrong.

I use the the Mossy Oak Treestand and was skeptical of it at first, I thought it was too grey and too light to work. After last season it will be all I use for along time, granted being on the Pro Staff my opinion is slightly balanced but, regardless, I think it's one of the best patterns available. I think Realtree AP is too light to work in many early season situations.

I also like the looks of UC and Predator seems to be a popular vote. I had great success with Trebark before I switched to Mossy Oak.

U.C. is perfect for the northwoods of Minnesota for sure.

Predator and enigma are great patterns. Jeff at Gray Wolf Wollens developed his own pattern you can see it on his site, it looks good as well.

Thats the same camo I've been using for the past couple of seasons. You didn't go wrong. Mine is starting to fade and I might consider U.C. or just switch to Predator Fall grey.

    MNBowhunter,

Ask youself this question. What is camo designed to do? The entire purpose of camo-flauge is to take the human outline, and break it up. Deer see a shape, associate it to something, just like we do when we see the shape of a deer or anything else in the woods. The point is to break this outline (interior and exterior) as MUCH as possible.

In-order to break up the outline at great distances, you need large sections of various colors to do the best job. This is exactly why I like Predator Fall Gray. Don't be afriad that it is too bright. Put yourself anywhere in the woods / fields, and the sun and lights and darks, and the non-color vision of whitetails produces a situation where Predator just makes you dissapeer. They can't put 2 and 2 together.

Use what you want, but you need to consider what a pattern does at a distance, and how it is designed to break your pattern. I have never EVER met a single person who has bought Predator and wasn't satisfied after using it. Find another product out there that you can say that about! Not many!

I'm rocking Ultimate Camo this season. For the price I just couldn't pass it up. They have awesome customer service. I tried going with some M pants and they were a little snug, I emailed customer service about an exchange and by the next time I checked my email I was told a Size L would be in the mail and I could return the Medium pants at my convenience. I'm very impressed and highly recommend UC.
