I have been in the market of buying some new camo for this coming year. i have been looking at a couple of different patterns, to go well with mainly treestand hunting(in oaks). I have looked at some mossy oaks patterns, they have a pattern called treestand anybody used this pattern before, or maybe the realtree AP HD pattern? Or do you guys have any other suggestions....im mainly looking for a early/late fall pattern. Always appreciate the input guys:D
The ASAT Vanish Pro Suit that Jeff is refering to is a very nice working suit....while it lasts. I love the ASAT Pattern but the suit isn't made very well and it definetly isn't meant to be a lasting piece of equipment. I had to replace the pants section this year as they were ripping in both knees, the pocket slots, and the bottom of the legs. The new pants were loosing the leaves the second trip to the stand. If ASAT can make these suits a little tougher, they would be one of the most useful pieces of hunting gear out there.
i strongly recommend ultimate camo if you want a pattern that can really blend in then this is the best i have ever seen by far... give em a look, ultimatecamo.com trust me u wont be dissapointed.
Well i dont really have one, the camo i used is all hammydowned from my uncle. I know i dont want to be spending money every year on camo. If it would last $140 is affordable for me.
You know what i have actually seen this camo before and i thought it looked very promising, do you currently have it? UPsides and DOWNsides to it? I like both options...but with the Ultimatecamo being $60 cheaper would be better for my wallet, its only a bark pattern tho, with the ASAT camo it can be used as a all purpose camo.
MN I wear Realtree AP and had a lot of luck with it, and will be using it again this season. I personally am looking into the Predator line of camo...that will be the next line I buy.
MN, Upsides and downsides of Ultimate Camo from a user and a guy who will admit to representing the product, I'm endorsing.. The upsides are many, The pattern allows you to use one pattern all season. whether the leaves are green, orange or totally gone...the one constant is the tree itself(trunk and branches) , doesn't change colors. So 1 camo for all seasons. It also has the ability to appear dark against a dark background and much lighter with lighter background. (look at the picture section on www.ultimatecamo.com ). It's designed for the treestand hunter but works just as well backed up to a tree in turkey season or when ground hunting. Another huge benefit is price and satisfaction. The owner and founder (Andy.. board name...Diesel77) is a regular guy, a board member here and at HNI, camospace and many other boards). He is as good as they come. He's not some big Company, he's a man trying to live the American dream and share his passion for hunting! Downsides, It's a lighter fabric at this point ( warmer stuff in the pipeline) But with the complete set, (Jacket, full button shirt, 6 pocket BDU pants, hat, mask and gloves) You can easily layer to cover all but the absolute coldest temps. Thus you have a complete suit..no extras to buy! It offers no water repellant protection..again this will come in time. You won't find anyone that I know of who's bought it and been dissappointed, quite the contrary. Climb in a tree in the full get up, head to toe and honestly you feel invisible based on the reactions from deer...you are!
gr8, thanks for the honest review. Do you have to order it online? or can you buy it at all the big box stores like cabelas and BPS?
Online is your best bet. UC is not in any big stores yet. They do some of the bigger outdoor shows around the Country. But online is easiest...and delivery is very quick!
Yes, it is the same suit. I have not had any durability problems with mine. I honestly have 200+ sits in the vanish pro suit I own and all I have had to replace was the head net because I lost it a couple seasons ago. It does show wear on many of the leaves but does not hamper the camo's effectiveness IMO. Maybe the new suits aren't made as well as the older ones 4+ years ago? Anyhow, it is a great product and a great camo I have 100% confidence in.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with the majority of the open patterns that are available. These are the ones that I would look into... ASAT Enigma Camo Predator Vertigo
If your set is right and you have something that breaks up your outline you're good. Don't get too hung up on this issue, any mossy oak, realtree, vertigo pattern will do, just don't move!!
Forget Mossy Oak and Realtree - you might as well wear a solid gray suit. Predator Fall Gray is my favorite pattern in the world! I've been wearing it for 8 or 9 years now, and it's saved my butt more times than I can even remember. I think it does the best job at breaking the human outline, which is the ONLY point of camo IMO. We get away with MURDER on a regular basis. Check it out - you won't be dissappointed you did brother!
I am partial to Ultimate Camo after using it last year. If you are in Oak Trees or trees with similar bark it works quite well. Last year I purposely dropped small bark pieces to get does to look up and they never pegged my location or busted me, I have several photos of deer below me on my Blackberry. It has worked better IMO than any of the Realtree or Mossy Oak patterns.
racewayking, i do have alot of oak in my area, the area i actually hunt is called oak ridge so haha i do have alot of oaks around me, how well insulated is it? or is it more of something to put over your regular clothes
There is some warmer stuff that should be out soon. The regular stuff is uninsulated but you can layer under it. The prices are pretty cheap so getting a few pairs of pants and jackets is no monster purchase plus Andy ships out pretty fast. There might be fancier stuff out there but U.C. works and is light on the budget. They also have the killer bark pattern tape out now on the site.
