Has anyone used the trail cameras that send pics to your cell phone or email? Which camera was it and what are your thoughts about them? Thanks

I just saw the commercial on the Sportsman Channel and was wondering the same thing.

I personally don't have any experience with the transmitting cams, but everything I have read about the ones that do is not very good. With the exception of the Buckeye cams but those are in the neighborhood of $1800. Scoutguard came out with one this last year and the reviews are not good. The most affordable with the best pics are probably Moultrie but the cell plan is $90.00 per month. I've seen pics from the Smartscouter and they are horrible. I believe there are a few models coming out for 2011 that are supposed to transmit but I don't know which ones. I don't think the technology is quite there yet. You must remember that many times a trailcam is in a place with poor cell coverage and since that's the way most of them work, it's sometimes spotty at best.

    Blessings.....Pastorjim

Stay tuned for a release from Reconyx in the next year. Reconyx has a habit of building industry leaders. I am sure these transmitting camera will be no different.

Covert came out with one this year, just insert a sim card and it's good to go. Add one to existing phone package or even go buy a prepaid sim card. It will write to SD cards when not in service either. I don't have personal experience w this model nor do I know what they retail for.
