My camera experiment last week where I put three different brands of camerras on the same tree was, to borrow a phrase, an epic failure. Here are the results. Reconyx, 30 triggers, no deer. Stealthcam I-590, 30 triggers, 1 deer and other problems that I will get to in a moment. Moultrie I-40, 190 triggers, no animals of any kind in the pics. I think I can explain the Moultries problem by saying that these cams were in very dark timber where it is even pretty dark in the daytime. Moultries really like their daylight and this was not a good place to put it. The Reconyx had thirty triggers and all pics had animals in them. The Stealthcam had thirty triggers, mostly blank, but it now has a further problem. The night pics with the white flash are almost whited out. Here are some examples. Now I have been bragging on the Stealthcam because the pics. I had been getting, both day and night, have been very good. I want what I say to be credible so I am telling you all about this problem. I wouldn't want someone to buy this camera because of something I said and then begin having a problem that I could have pointed out. On the other hand, the place where I purchased it, trailcampro, is standing behind what they sold me and have offered a full refund, exchange for the same camerea, or let me upgrade to anything else. They are even paying for the return shipping. That, I will be glad to brag about because I have dealt with these guys before and they are just the best. Blessings.....Pastorjim
So it sounds like the only camera to buy is the Reconyx by your test??? If I buy one it better work Mr.Jim Cause you told us so... Kidding aside thanks for the info...
do you think it could've been a flash from one of the other camera that the stealthcam was catching? maybe that why it was so whited out? just a theory
I agree with the flash possibly setting off the others because I have not ever had a problem with my moultrie.
That is really strange.. I'm sure science could explain it, but I have no idea how the cameras may be affecting each other.
I really don't tnink it was one camera effecting another because the camera testing sites like chasingame and trailcampro do this type of thing all the time and they don't seem to have an issue with it. The stealthcam's problem actually started the cycle before this one. The problem looks like the flash is bleeding into the camera. All my cameras are in security boxes and I thought maybe I hadn't placed it in the box correctly. So this time when I moved the camera, I was very careful to do that but I still got the same problem with the flash pictures. I will be going to retrieve the stealthcam monday or tuesday and then I will bring it home and run some tests of my own in the yard. If it still has the issues with the flash pictures, then I will send it back to trailcampro. As for the Moultrie, I still think alot of it's problems had to do with the amount of light which was available. I have since moved it into an area with ample sunlight and I'm sure the next time I check it, things will be back to normal. Seems I might have had the same issue last year as the foilage got thicker and thicker. Oh well, we will see what we will see. Blessings.....Pastorjim
