First, wish I could say I did it, but it wasn't me. My husband took half the week off to go out. He works out of town, so his days are limited. He went out yesterday - only saw two small bucks that were very jumpy. We figured it was because we had people small game hunting our land when they aren't supposed to be there. Kind of got him into the attitude of "our bow hunting is ruined". Woke up this morning and he hesistated on going. Ended up going since it wasn't raining. At 6:45 I got a text "Babe, just got that big one". It wasn't the original one he was after, but still a dandy. I got him on trail camera a couple weeks ago. He moved from my stand (towards the front) to the back of the property. But appeared at the same time. Husband said he walked in behind a bush. Which allowing him to stand up and draw - buck walked out at 20 yards and he let the arrow fly. He said he went about 20 yards and stopped. Just stood there. He had to question himself if he even shot him - then the buck collapsed. I'll post better pictures when he gets him to my work. Can I mention now, work ruins all the fun? Regardless, our first camera buck down! Now it has to be my turn, right?! I may be having to get a sick day here at work - I'm running out of time!
Thanks! I'm just as excited - though I definately wish it could be me. It's a young buck - guessing only around 2-3. Worse part is this spot gets loaded with rifle hunters and unless the deer moves off the land it wont make it another year (If it's legal, they'll have it down).
If I scored him correctly, it is my first time, he grosses 121 3/8 and nets 115. I used the ScoreMyRack app.
