Have you used it much? How well does the bolt connecting to the tree hold up with the weight of the camera fully extended?

I'd be pretty dangerous if I learned how to weld

Nope Fitz I just built it recently and with this cold weather haven't got around to any really good testing.... From what I can tell it holds it pretty decent but I may have to get it welded if I start having problems

Those are 16” pieces so fully extended would place it at almost 4' which should be way more than enough for anything I need including wrapping around in front of me for shots on my off side

I am about to do the same! I plan on wrapping the tubing with the camo duct tape to really cut down on sounds when moving..or bumping it!

Just a little update... I finished the arm and got a chance to take a few pics of it this morn, I made a few slight changes too it and also shortened it quite a bit to help get rid of the bounce (and I realized I don't need it nearly 4 ft long)
Special thanks to Jacob Schmidtt on YouTube for his video it helped a ton! Here's the link if anyone is interested: Make Your Own Good Self Film Hunting Camera Arm: http://youtu.be/dXj9Pqhi7NI

That looks great! Will have to pass this onto a buddy of mine in need of an inexpensive camera arm!

I wonder how using a rubber spray on this would work? If that would cut down on the noise? I have a muddy arm that needs painting...

Jonathan I have an idea I'm going to try as far as a paint job... I'll post the results when I get it done

OK so originally I was thinking plain black or maby camo tape wrapped... But I was in Walmart looking at the spraypaints they had and found this...
    uploadfromtaptalk1426810843805.jpg
Its around 7 and a half bucks so I picked up a can and figured I'd try it...
I can't really get a good pic but after painting it lightly w a flat black as a primer and giving it two separate coats of this stuff I gotta say I like it!!!! It dries into a nice textured finish, black w brown specks thru it (it actually looked sorta dark green to me until after the 2nd coat dried so mb just one coat wud do it if u want the greenish look?) Here's the best I could do for pics right now, if I find a way to get better ones I'll post some

Definitely cool, but i just made one that attaches to the bolt of my stabilizer so I don;t have to spend extra stand time messing around.

That's really cool! I'm working on getting into self filming. How much would one of those cost?

JoeBear I'd estimate total cost is close to $100 but I already had a lot of the materials so it saved some, the tripod head will be one of the more expensive parts if you don't have a tripod you can borrow one from
