These pictures are about 2 weeks old now, but our plots are in top form, and we actually have a couple good bucks on the cams. I think 2 of the pics are of the same buck, but I can't tell for sure and a few people that have seen them think they're two different deer. The pictures in question are of the nice 8 and the one walking straight away from the camera. I'm leaning toward it being the same deer, but because the pics were within hours of each other some think it's two different ones. I'm curious to see what you all think. I'll put up the plot pics first and get to the bucks after, and I can't help that fog messed up the one, but I think he looks like he has some decent head gear! The one picture also has me wondering if it's an old one that's past his prime being his body isn't quite right to be a young deer. Fogged out but looks pretty good. This young fella should be impressive in 3 years! I think this guy is past his prime. Thoughts? I think these next two are actually the same deer...others have disagreed.
Woooohooo...I got them to work now. The big plot here is Maxi-Rack's G-Force blend that was planted May 3rd, and will be mowed for the third time this week to have it going with fresh regrowth for the season opener in 2 weeks, and it's also what the close up picture is. The long plot along the corn is a third year stand of MR's New Zealand Blend, and we expanded 12 feet along the corn this year to accomodate a trial run of their new TreeStand Blend. The last plot picture is a second year stand of MR's Select Clovers. Maxi-Rack G-Force Blend full plot view and close up. Third year stand of Maxi-Rack New Zealand Blend and new TreeStand Blend. Select Clovers Early summer growth...
Looks like there is alot of good chickory in there. I have used a similar blend from Whitetail Institute, they look pretty comparible.
Went out and mowed the big plot for the last time this year so it will be in strong regrowth for the season opener. I had to take the cam down to mow so I checked the card and was pleasantly surprised to see a great 8. I think he rubbed off overnight because in the first pic he clearly has velvet yet, but in the one from next day he looks like he's rubbed off. Looks like full velvet here. It looks like he's rubbed off in these and it was just overnight!
Some slammers there. I'd like to catch another shot of that one in the fog Toby. He's got a pile of antler on his head. That funky one does look like a solid deer. I feel he's beyond 3.5 but not sure about "past" his prime. It brings up a good question to what "past" means. Beyond 6? Plots look fantastic too. Sounds and looks like a promising season.
Here is a pic of the 2 acre Chicory Plus that we planted in May Pic of one of our bucks headin to the buffet Here is a pic of the plot before we planted it with Shot Plot here mid August, should be good looking now.
