Haha no joke! That was the worst throwing conditions possible really.

Cam Newton started his career doing somethingNO ONE ever in the history of the game has done, besides now Tom Brady....and on the worst team in the league at that.

Critics all said he can only run and will never throw well enough to be relevant in the NFL. Now that he is breaking throwing records and proving he can certainly throw, people bring up that he is 1-2 for the worst team in the league. Even Brady the GOAT has more ints this season.

Newton is a rookie and will have rookie mistakes....but he is putting up numbers that most rookies can only dream of

and by numbers you mean lots of yards, cause you cannot mean TDs or passer ratings

and I should probably clarify, I am not singling Cam out, I am very critical of NFL players in general, they get paid a lot of money to do what they do, I am not forgiving of very many mistakes. I just picked Cam, because I knew it would start a hot topic.

He put up 800+ yards in his first 2 NFL starts for the worst team in the league. No one has ever done that before. Why is it even a discussion on how he has faired as a pro thus far?

Is he on Brady's level hell no. Will he be one day? Not a single indication against it thus far. Everything people point out he can't do, he does.

and if you look at my initial post, I admitted that was impressive. but yards don't count when the game is over, points do and at the end of the season wins do.

I am in no way a Cam Newton fan but it looks like he is doing his part. The losses are to blame else ware in the roster.

I would have to disagree at least in the game against the packers, threw 3 interceptions and only lost by a touchdown. I think there is some justified blame there. and I am a packer fan, but they definatly would have had a hard time winning without those picks. In his first game, I have no idea, I did not watch it. and in the the game the panthers won, i have a difficult time giving him a lot of credit, due to the fact of the conditions of the game and having to rely more on the ground game, butI will give him some as the QB is the leader of the offense and they did win.

Id take a 30-17 Vince Young over a 1-2 Cam Newton anyday.

    Proofs in the winning.

GO BILLS! Sorry to derail, I'll take the Amish Rifle (Ryan Fitzpatrick) and the Team effort over some rookie sensation.

All I'm saying is it's 3 games now in his NFL career. Not even sure if it should be allowed to have a name like Tom Brady in the same thread as Cam Newton. Like they say on NFL countdown...... COME ON MAN!

By the way I don't like or dislike him. Yeah he threw for a bunch of yards the first two games. Impressive I'll concede. But dang lets not give him the rookie of the decade award just yet.

If you weren't such a Longhorns homer you would see how laughable that is.:busted:

VY is a mental head case. As a semi Titans fan (friend has season tickets and I live an hour away lol) I saw first hand how big of a baby he is. For that reason alone, he will never be the starting franchise QB for someone IMO unless he does some major changing.

I really don't understand the comments about other VETERAN qb's being better then Newton?

The guy has played 3 games...what sense does it make to compare him to qb's who have been in the league for many years?

I think the nfl anylists on TV have merely been saying he has looked impressive so far for a rookie on a terrible team...nothing more

I really don't see the big deal here?

    Put the Busch Light down.

The Eagles would have started Kafka ahead of your boy toy.

Just listen to one interview of both, and you'll know who has a future and who doesn't.

making conclusions based on 3 wks playing time is not the smartest thing to do. that being said, newton does have decent potential but he can only go so far in carolina's mediocre team.

I think I see what Cam Newton's problem is now...he's not Tim Tebow.

Vince Young is a player. 30 wins as a starting Quarterback, not an easy feat. Some team will eventually take a risk on him and will be rewarded.

So, you don't think rookie QBs should start and they should sit behind a veteran to learn, BUT you think they are all the same? What?

Actually, now that VY and CM are gone, i have no interest in college football. Call me a front runner i guess. I dont have enough time to devote to learning thousands of new names every year. If they make it to the NFL, then ill learn them.

VY is a head case, he scored terribly on the wonderlic test and he loves to complain. That doesnt mean he isnt a talented football player. If he ever matures, he has the ability to be a Micheal Vick-like duel threat Quarterback.

Who is more talented, Cam Newton or Vince Young? As far as style and college legacy, both are similiar.

what i meant by this, is if they are going to start, I am going to be just as critical of them as I am of the guy with years of experience. I'm not giving him the "rookie" excuse.

also you seem to be treating this as if I said he was terrible. If you are then go re-read this entire post. I give him credit where due. Just don't really think he is worth the hype he "was" getting. Other than this thread, havn't heard much about him this week.
