ok, now that LilSevenMag is yankin 40#'s back, he says he's ready for action in IL this year... I read thru the regs and it seems a bit vague to me... as follows:

"A long, recurve, or compound bow with a minimum
pull of 40 pounds at some point within a
28-inch draw. Minimum arrow length is 20
inches, and broadheads must be used. Broadheads
may have fixed or expandable cutting surfaces,
but they must have a minimum 7/8 inch
diameter when fully opened. Broadheads with
fixed cutting surfacesmust bemetal or flint-, chertor
    obsidian-knapped; broadheads with expandable
    cutting surfaces must be metal."

does this mean the bow has to pull 28" or just that somewhere in the stroke it must peak at 40#???

I also don't see an age limit on archery season... so at 8.5yrs old is he legal as long as his bow (and equipment) meet the regs???

my compound will only draw to 26". At 26" it's 41lbs. So it's legal.

My recurve is 41lbs at 28". I only draw it to about 25" (at which it's less than 40lbs) ... but because recurves are measured at 28" it's legal.

The rule was written back when folks where shooting recurves and longbows and draw weight at 28" was the measured standard.

Does that make sense? (yes, LilSevenMag is legal)
