So my son and I finally got pretty close to some deer (First time ever for us). We had two does about 50 yards, directly in front of us. (My kids shooting range is 30 yards) Wind in our face in a well concealed double tree stand. Cut corn on the ground with turnips between the corn.

These does stayed out at 50 - 60 yards for 30- 40 minutes. Would not move left right back or forth....just kept feeding right in the same spot.

We were running out of shooting light.....

so I got desperate and tried using a doe bleat call, a fawn call, even a grunt call......the does would perk up and look our way after each call......

Right as light ran out they slowly moved away from us into the darkness.

Question for you: Is there a way to call in a doe?

You did the best you could do but they were more interested in eating.

Some people have had luck using a fawn call. I think it just depends On the deer

I tried to do use a grunt call
This morning on some does but it did not work. I have seen it done on a hunting show I was watching. And it was not one of those shows on cable tv

My experience is that does not in heat will come in on a string to a can call. Especially young ones.

Trying a decoy is another option. When I use one during the rut I always get does to come in & check it out simply due to curiosity. (I'm referring to a doe decoy BTW).

I have had them come in right after grunting, using a can, and even rattling two weeks ago. Hard to see any pattern in it.
I did watch a bow hunt or die episode where one of the Prostaff guys, can't remember which, used a turkey decoy to get the does curious and keep them focused on that while he drew and shot.

It worked the lead doe walked right up to the decoy and sniffed it.
