I’m notorious for over thinking, and this may be one of those times. But - I’ve got a 20 year old Scott archery release that’s about had it and I need to replace it. What I shoot now is a single caliper, but wondered if the dual caliper or hook style would be better? Or does it even matter?

    Thanks in advance.

Try a bunch, so many to choose from. My only advice is don't do it during season.

Yeah, don't do that. Lol. The indoor range near me will let you try a bunch of releases. Highly suggest that if you can.

I started with dual because that's what was available many years ago. Single didn't make any difference. The hook wasn't for me. I've got a thumb release I'm trying to figure out. Still not comfortable enough to hunt with it. Keep coming back to the original.

Don't buy a release because someone else says it's the next best thing since sliced bread. You have to make that determination for yourself. And then practice like heck with it. Sorry but, true.

My nephew is young and he wants all the latest and greatest. He went out and bought some fancy release and in a week it fell apart. I told him quit trying to be sexy about everything and go buy a dual caliper true fire buckle strap and be done with it. This is for hunting. It's simple and effective. Never had an issue with these releases and been using them for years.

I ended up buying a new model of what I originally had (Scott Archery Little Duck is what they are calling it now). Took it home, noticed the trigger was a little lighter on the new one which I kind of like, but other than that it was exactly the same. Drilled the target at 40 with my practice broadheads and kept it moving.

Thanks for the comments fellas, good luck this fall.

If your release ever starts creaking when you draw, rub it with mineral oil, the squeak will stop and mineral oil is scentless. Buckle never Velcro.

I left my Scott grip caliper release in the woods and I am so salty about it. They don’t make them anymore. I got a wrist strap release and it is ok but I want my old one back.

Scott and it’s copy B3 have the sear mechanism down pretty well. If I was going to a jaw single or double they would get my money. Find one you like then by two of them
