I do not know what is available up on Ohio, but... Newcastle Fat Tire Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale (my favorite "go to" beer) La Fin Du Monde is a triple, but it is mild, and about as smooth as a beer can get.
So not very dark or hoppy is what I am hearing from you. +1 for the Leinenkugels - just stay away from the Berryweisse. I think you get your Man Card pulled for drinking that crap. If you can get ahold of some, Anchor Steam is a great beer. Sam Adams makes a good product, but if you are staying away from IPAs, some of the Sam Adams may be a little hoppy. There is also a craft brewer called Stone Brewing Company. One of my local places has acces to Stone's reserve cellar They make some kick a$$ beer, but are hard to find, and I think only on tap. Happy Drinking.
Ya, Their saying is "Stoney's Beer its not just for Breakfast Anymore" Stoney Jones...... Shirley Jones of the "Brady Bunch" her Grandpa started! Just say'in! Ninja had some for Breakfast too!
Quite a selection there Caleb! I need to venture out also as I get stuck on one thing. BUT Why change if it still taste good? :p I have been meaning to try Red stripe,,,any good?
Red Stripe IS good! It's about all I drank when I was on my honeymoon in Jamaica. Good stuff. I love Newcastle Brown Ale. Good stuff. Caleb, I used to drink Natty Light, Bud light, Miller lite, etc and can't stand it anymore. I'll drink it if it's free or if it's all that is available but I feel like crap the next day. Sometimes after only having a few. I've found drinking New Castle (not too sure how high it rates on the "good beer scale") doesn't make me feel sick. I also like Smithwicks, Yuengling, Sam Adams, Blue Moon, etc. I've also been trying out a lot of microbrew beers that are made in my area.
Bud Light x 12 for me please. Doesn't get you to the stupid level of drunk but allows you to feel good. Never lets me down. I prefer whiskey myself to avoid hangover days.
buddy used to work for Bud and picked this up for me. his youngest in the pic saying "Zeek" cause she couldnt pronounce "isaiah" when she was little. my MAIN drink... but when im feeling frisky - guiness by the pintfull, but only at a bar (preferably irish) Galway Arms in chi cause places like that sell a lot of it and keeps the lines clean(er) - most any Three Floyds but Gumball head is the best. first time i had it puked off of 6!!! thats how strong they are - summit winter ale, hard to get here in IL but when i lived in MN it was the best! - J.K. Skrumpys hard apple cider, my only really fu fu beer and it too is strong as S*@t! gotta be served ice cold!
Tell us what the rest of your beers are & we'll probably be able to tell you if you'll like them. Yeti stout is a very good beer. You might like Pilsner Urkell, not neccessarily a "craft" beer, but should be similar to that one you liked. And I would go with Bruce's suggestions of wheat beers.
Sam Adams has some good brews. Yuengling is pretty fine. I found Saranac mixed case at Target of all places which had some great beers in there at a good price. Good way to try out some different ones. I don't consider them yuppy beers. They are pretty standard.
1. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with Busch Light. 2. As said, Newcastle, Fat Tire (or really almost all New Belgium Brewery beers), Killians etc. to start with.
hey cheeseheads, any New Glarus drinkers out there??? i like it but gotta find the time to cross the boarder to get some!
Here's my suggestion to you. Microbrew (ie "yuppy") beer, or beer with taste to it, is something you acquire a taste for. The way I can explain the difference the best is this. For me, the more I drink of budlight, etc, to worse it starts tasting. The opposite occurs with craft beers. The third really does taste better than the first. Being that you drink water, you're going to have a tough time with beers (especially beers like yeti) that have a lot of body to them. I suggest you start out with something light, a "wheat" beer for instance. A whit might also be to your liking. Don't go buy six packs to try beer either. Go to a brewhouse, or a establishment that has a lot of beers on tap (we have several in town with 20-50 taps) and ask for samples. Once you find one that is "ok" to you, drink a few. Give it a chance. Most people didn't like coffee the first time they tried it. Craft beer is the same. When you're ready to try some beers let me know. You need to go to a craft bar first. Try some, and seriously, drink 3-4 of them. See if they get better (which they will).
