For myself, I have a home made mount that turns and tilts but a very cheap alternative would be to use a simple "L" bracket . A 1/4' bolt through the bracket into the 1/4" mounting hole in the bottom of the camera, use a nut or wingnut to tighten. It can be bent down, turned, or even twisted a bit. I just happen to have the old detachable steps (not available anymore) that I use the get up the tree. About all I can say about grass tripping the camera is to chop it down....and use a bit of Round Up.
