Anyone else have it bad right now? I like to ice fish and predator hunt in the winter, but my real passions are bass fishing and bowhunting and right now I can't do either and it's really starting to wear on me. I absolutely envy the guys that can run south to do some fishing right now, I'm really craving the wind in my face as I zip across a light wind chop on the water, and the sun on my back as I pick apart an endless grass line with a jig. In about two months we will have some of the best fishing of the year, and I absolutely can't wait. First place I'm going to hit is the Great Sacandaga for prespawn smallies on the endless underwater rock walls. Anyone else getting anxious for spring?
Oh you bet, Turkey hunting and bass fishing. Im getting the shivers just thinking about spring and the fall!
You bet. I tend to keep busy this time of year with remodeling projects, but I still get out for walks and checking trail cams. Just took the XDm out on Sunday and cycled some rounds. Looking forward to warmer weather, turkey season and fly fishing.
I've been doing a lot of shooting too Matt - ran a couple hundred rounds through the new Glock last weekend and have been cooking up handloads for the .45 colt too and shooting it quite a bit. I love doing that stuff, but I simply can't wait to run the boat. I wish I had a bigger garage so I could pull the wrapping and cover off and start to tinker with it some without having it exposed to snow. Unfortunately my garage is about 2' short to fit the boat and trailer in there........
Well now you know what to look for in your next house:D I really wish we had more open water around here. I do enjoy getting out and bash/pike fishing in Canada. I actually think I enjoy it more than flyfishing. I just live around too good of flyfishing waters not to do it.
I am working almost every weekend right now with show season in full swing. Dieing to check cameras. Shoot turkeys in the face. Eat fresh morel mushrooms and pick up some shed antlers. Plenty to do but hard to find time to do it !
Yeah I'm starting to feel it. Was supposed to head up the cabin last weekend but the little one got sick. Was going to try this weekend but not sure I will make it. The snow is pretty deep so I guess I'm not missing much. I gotta get myself some snow shoes. I don't fish at all but chasing some turkeys sounds pretty good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Can't hunt deer, can't take the boat out til 3/1. Setting up Raxx sites and waiting til 3/1 to order cams is on my mind daily. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
I had it bad through January but last weekend I was able to hit some open water on the river and caught this 3lb 10 oz. smallie on third cast. Also fantasy fishing has started with bassmaster classic coming up next weekend. That always helps me through feb into march.
Yes Im goin NUTZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! I have my first bass tournament in 3 years almost 7 weeks away, Im fired up about that but its making time move super slow. Its killin me!
Yeah I usually like it a bit colder than this. Of course, tomorrow morning is supposed to be like 30, so I'm not sure if I want to go fishing in that...
SWEET ! Me, my 5 year old son, my good friend and his 8 year old.... are heading up to our cabin Saturday morning to stay one night. It is supposed to be -7 below that night. 14 above for a high. Going to try and get out and do some walking through the woods and see how much deer sign there is. Probably shoot some guns. Drink some beers. Just get outside. Hopefully the wood stove will keep up! LOL
I am too busy with work, training, and shuffling my kids around to sports events 6 days a week to have cabin fever. I have need to sleep fever.
