xbows=12 pages, all other bows, youth, recurve, compound=10 pages. Sad day. Welcome to the instant gratification era. Ishi, Pope,Young, fred Bear are all rolling over. Stay strong p and y club. Xbows are as primitive as an ML with a scope.

It'll jus keep getting bigger with the more and more states letting everyone hunt with one. Jus one them things I guess.

Whats the difference between a crossbow a modern compound with a 18 inch stabilizer, $300 sight that pulls in even the slightest bit of light, and shooting 350fps? ....nothing.

Looks like Xbows are the future of hunting gents. i bought 2 of them a Stryker and a Ten point and sold them in less then a month! There just not for me. I hunt state land and you cant leave a stand there without it getting stolen. so i was backing a stand and a xbow in and out of the woofs and it just got to be s hassle. and the fact that i jst flat out missed shooting my compound. most hunters i know sell there xbows a month or 2 after buying it. lol

I can pull a newb off a golf course and have him hitting dollars @ 20yards in 4 minutes. Try that with a vertical bow and then there's that bothersome part about drawing on a deer. The book begs to differ.

Thats what i bought my stryker for (late season) even custom painted winter camo but carrying a stand, xbow, back pack and drag a deer is a pain in the Back and butt so i sold it lol maybe when i get older and have a piece of land of my own or even find a public place i can leave my stand for the yr and not have it stolen or tampered with the maybe juuuuust maybe ill buy another one:p But this state is filled with thief's and just all around bad sportsmen. ok my rant is over :rant:hahahhaha

yeah it is annoying how people think crossbows are just as hard to shoot as a compound. the compound takes way more skill than the crossbow to be half as accurate. you really need to have everything perfect.

Actually this trend began last year as there were more crossbows than compounds in the archery catalog. Some of you may not want to hear it but if you want to know where the future is, follow the money.

Its all about choices. The crossbow is getting younger hunters into the woods sooner and keeping older hunters in the woods longer. My dad uses one because of shoulder problems that won't allow him to draw a compound so my opinion may be jaded but if the crossbow keeps us in the woods hunting together then I thank God for them.

Crossbows take no effort it's an arrow slingin rifle basically.

    The difference;
    65 yard shot

Compound - not a chance on an animal

Crossbow - I'd do it without even thinkin twice.

Just one way more idiots have as an easy way in to huntin

But wouldn't you rather have those "idiots" on our side instead of the side of the anti-hunters? The old guys fealt the same way about compounds when they came out and some still feel that way. In a majority rules society I would prefer the hunters be the majority no matter what the tool used to hunt with is.

Come check out some of the whack jobs that hunt with them here an see if you want then on any side. Period.

I get it for the old guys both my grandpa an dad use em but someone in their mid twenties have no business usin one

An if your tryin to even hint at the fact that crossbows maybe might make an anti-hunter turn into a hunter or vice versa your crazy!

I have no problem with hunters using xbows, but I don't want them to be allowed during the archer portion of the season. Just because they shoot an arrow, doesn't make it archery. If someone chooses to use an xbow during a muzzleloader or rifle season, I'm fine with that.
For those that have injuries or for some physical reason cannot pull a bow back, then I'm all for having a doctors note that allows them to use the xbow during the archery season.

I've yet to hear a single argument against crossbows that makes any real sense. When you look at the hard facts which include things like license sales, number of hunters in the woods, amount of animals harvested, quality of animals harvested, etc there's absolutely zero statistics that show any sort of negative impact by allowing crossbow use in archery season. However you still have people who are more worried about what their neighbor is shooting than they are about what they're shooting.

And spare me the "you should see the shots these slobs are taking with crossbows" argument. I'm sure we all know plenty of people who take horrible shots with compounds, shotguns, rifles and any other legal weapon they can get their hands on. Taking a poor shot has nothing to do with the weapon you're shooting and everything to do with the person that's shooting it.

The amount of ignorance, intolerance, jealousy and selfishness surrounding the crossbow debate frankly makes me sick.

Honestly, who cares if someone is using a crossbow during archery season? How does this affect you in any way?

Meh..... What Cabelas puts in its catolog isn't going to give me any heartburn. But a guy hunting with crossbow doesn't give me heartburn either.
