Washington, here he comes! Interesting move. In bigger news, the Cowboys released Flozell Adams and Ken Hamlin...going to miss Adams, not Hamlin.
as an eagle fan, i dont mind this one bit. however i wish we got something better then a second round draft pick
They are talking about the Kolb however, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Vick wiggles in there.... Adam's DID have a lot of penalties, but he was still a beast. We're still loaded for next this year!
Why do you trade your franchise QB to your division rival? This is the dumbest trade I have seen in professional sports for quite some time.
Is DM really their franchise QB anymore? This trade probably was at the best time as he is on the downslope now. Let's remember he was benched at one time last season. Usually you don't bench your franchise QB.
I think we all know he is not currently their franchise QB. With that being said.......ah hell, I'm not in the mood to agrue today. Carry on...
hes a has been.... always could get us to the game but never win it... For QB my guess is Vick will start
Andy Reid said at the press conference last night that as of right now Kolb is the starting QB for Philly. Of course we'll see how that pans out, but my money is on him.
It amazes me that so many Philly fans truly don't appreciate what they had. McNabb has a better winning percentage than Brett Favre.... he hardly threw interceptions, and all of this while the idiotic Philly fans boo'd him. He took the team to the NFC championship 5/11 seasons. As a Cowboys fan, I am glad to see him leave the Eagles... Philly just took a step backwards for next season and IMO doesn't pose a threat for the division... but on the same note.... Washington became VERY scary... those three RB's and a future HOF QB in McNabb with coaching from Mike S. they are going to be tough!
sorry but im not rooting for the eagles so they can win some NFC champioships... i agree they did take a step in the wrong direction but at the rate they were playing its not like they were a super bowl contender anyway. They are in the rebuilding phase and draft picks are what they need. they dont need a Quarterback who will probably play maybe 5 more seasons or so.
So many comments... DM is not a has been. The only teams who've won more games in the last 10 years are the Patriots and the Colts. Do you see them trading their franchise quarterback? No. DM went to the Redskins, because he did not want to go to Oakland or Buffalo. Andy Reid did not want to let him go, which is why he gave DM a preference on where to go. He also did not want to let him goto Washington, which was the first team to make an offer, but Andy held out. The push came from the Front Office/owner Jeff Lurie for one reason. DM's inability to win the game that mattered... the last one. Did I want to see DM go? Absolutely not. With his record and his actions on and off the field the guy has been nothing but first class athlete and person. The Eagles have a history of letting valuable players left while they still have trade value. That's all that was done here. I'd like to post more points, but my appointment just showed up...
Yeah, cause he didn't just have his third highest career QB rating or anthing. I don't see this as a good move for the Eagles, but time marches on. I hope Donovan lights it up for the Skins.
At this point, I believe the Redskins were the only team that were willing to offer what the Eagles were wanting. Both McNabb and Kolb are free agents at the end of this season. The Eagles view Kolb as the "quarterback of the future" for the organization. Their chances of bring back Kolb would be greatly reduced had they had him be 2nd string all season behind McNabb. Also, the money required to resign McNabb compared to Kolb would be a lot more. Instead they got good value out of a good player. Trading them in the division doesn't make much sense, but if it was the best deal on the table, then why not accept it? Kolb will be the starter, and Vick should have more of a speciality role along with serving as the backup QB. In the end both the Eagles and Redskins came out just fine on this.
Scott, the big question is what happened after the season when Kolb's contract is up and the most that the Eagles can raise it is from roughly $340,000 to $500,000 due to a 30% max contract increase rule. ?
