So I inherited a 2009 Parker Spitfire when I first started bowhunting seriously and kind of out grew it. Just didn't have that zip on it I was looking for so I went and sold it after the season was over. I'm now in the market for a new bow. I need some opinions on good bows. I am looking into the new Matthews line but this is my first time buyinga brand new bow. what kind of things should I look for as far as specs? I have a 31 inch draw and pull back 70 lbs. It's used for white tail but would love to get out west some day. I'm prepared to put $1500 into it when it's all said and done. Any advice would be appreciated!

I just got a Creed, with a QAD Ultra Rest HDX, Mathews Quiver, Spot Hogg Hunter, Axion Stabilizer, for around 1500. Love it.

Go online and look for a dealer that sells a lot of brands and go there and shoot as many as you can. I'd look for a bow with a brace height between 6-7, 315 FPS<. Don't let the brand sell you let the bow sell you. Good luck!

I got a bowtech insanity cxp and I love it. Shoots 355fps and the let off is amazing. Also it was last years leftover so I got it for under $800 but I reused my old arrows and sight from my matthews

Now that's what I'm gonna look into. Last years model or used is the most I could do.

The best way to buy a bow (or most anything) is research and fitment.
Shoot as many as possible. Take note of different ATA and brace height, how they pull. Heck, make a journal.

Then narrow down the field to just a few, and shoot those again. Take your time with it. You don't need a new bow tomorrow.

Is it worth looking at bows that pull back 80#? I wouldn't be shooting that most likely but simply so I could set it at 75# or is that just overkill?

You have plenty of time (for white tail) and a nice budget. Make it your hobby to shoot em all. I love the new Chill R for what you described as your hunt style. It is very smooth and near zero vibration.

If I wanted to spend $1500, I'd buy two top of the line, fully loaded, lightly used bows instead of one new bow.

Just purchased a 45# Samick Journey Take Down Recurve for 139.95, might have have been .99 not .95 can't remember which, not a compound but I think it will be well worth the investment. Good luck on finding your bow.

If your looking for a fast bow check out the pse full throttle, think it's 375fps. 80# draw is overkill with the speed of the newer bows out
