I've seen people buy new ones every year.
Personally, I'm planning on keeping this one for as long as I can.

I hear lots of guys buying a new bow every year, I can saw is...good for you. Personally, I don't see the reason. I guess if you are looking to upgrade, I would think every 5 years would be sufficient. I know as a husband of 3 little ones and married to a wonderful woman that doesn't exactly enjoy being gone during hunting season...I take what I can get.

Some guys just like trading around bows. You won't lose more than 1-200 a year if you are smart about it. Not for me, but it isn't like they drop a grand each year on a new bow setup and never see a dime of it again.

That said, I will likely only buy used from now on. Looking at some for a back up right now actually.

A lot of the guys you see changing gear every year are doing it because they have pro deals or are otherwise linked in with a company or shop, me included. If it weren't for that I don't think I'd get anything new more often than once every 5 years or so. As it is I have 2 perfectly good hunting bows (2009, 2010) and I have two 2012's on the way for target shooting.

Once you have a good bow, and a decent back up bow.. I don't think there is a need to upgrade.. If your rich, then yeah go for it. But, for me.. Im 15 and Im about to get a nice Mathews Ill be using that for a while unless I grow out of it..

My last bow lasted me 12 years. I bought a MR7 this year and it will probably last me a long time. I will probably buy a backup this winter, but it will be used.

I've bought one bow, last year. First bow was very old and was given to me, I still have it. Old bear, 20 years probably. Hand painted camo! The old bow still has more kills, but that will eventually change. :)
